Plus all the partical effects in Dota 2 are not as noticable. Good luck noticing someone using orchid in the middle of a team fight with Puck, DP, Dazzle and Storm Spirit. Its like a disco party in there.
Being able to perfectly break down a team fight is pretty much impossible and I think most people are fine with that. However, it IS important to be able to discuss which team is actually winning the game.
Admittedly, this can be pretty hard to do... but isn't translating the game to an audience the job of a caster? If someone can't do that (or their analytical partner or whatever) then I feel like the casting ends up being quite poor.

It is good for newer players that don't understand the general flow of the game. I really just prefer good play-by-play casting now. I can usually recognize which team is winning and by how much. On the other hand, I sometimes can't catch that clutch orchid in a teamfight or key ward placements or that rubick spell steal or something like that.
I'm far from being a DotA pro, but I think I can usually tell which team is winning a game too. What bothers me is when I feel like the casters can't.
You don't always know who is winning, it's not about the casters ability but there are games where either team could win it, there are games that look incredibly close with one team being several thousand experience and gold behind.
Edit: Also casters can't kill all hype by claiming one team is winning, they try to keep it exciting by often not looking at the gold-graph in games that appear to be one-sided. I don't much care for this type of casting but i understand why it's done that way.

It also doesn't help when the other team throws a huge lead or does something totally insane that causes the game to spiral out of control(aka, deny their own aegis).

Based on Epi's interview with EE, which I think is a reasonable source.
Wish he'd stream already. He said he would just after TI =(
man, my pub games has felt extremely rewarding recently. I still get matched with decent player but the top pub meta has completely switched to tri safe lane while nobody care to pick support. Decided I will be playing a shitton of ixdl/TLIH in the next 1-2 weeks to see if I enjoy it more. Will see

I doubt you will enjoy it more. It takes ages to get a game, people are raging tryhards in those leagues and they're not even good players for the most part.
I don't think s4 is the right kind of person for a streamer/caster. He didn't seem very natural on camera judging from interviews I've seen with him, and other stuff. What we need is more puppey casting and streaming, he has as much game knowledgea s s4, more experience and is very outspoken from what I've seen and heard... Puppey must hate money, he could easily be the most popular streamer/caster/personality if he at least tried, imo.
Has Dazzle ever been a competitive pick? I've been playing for a year and he's never entered the meta, even though it has been as enjoyably fluid and malleable as ever. I personally love playing him -- it is super rewarding to me.
What sort of buffs would he need to become a top / banned pick? Or is it just that the recent meta(s) haven't made him super viable?
Yup Puppey you never know when he " trolling " even in interviews or streams.
Personally, I think Winter+LD is the best combo you can get. Winter could be one of the top caster if he switched to being one.
Though I still prefer the Chinese and Korean casters. Chinese caster don't sugarcoat and will just say what did the players did wrong and give them criticism(which a lot of Western casters lack except maybe Lumi),etc and have very good insight in reading the game. Korean casters I guess everybody knows are insanely good at hyping up a game.
I'm having a lot of trouble against Riki in normal skill bracket. Been playing against Riki almost every game, and I do well in lane against him, but in the midgame he just seems to wipe my team and become super fed. Anybody have any tips for playing against him?

I am still waiting for Idra to cast a game(not a tournament level, just a show match or something). Just so I can hear him got: "Fuck, that worked," and "And now he is dead." in his dry humor voice.
