That doesn't really mean Dota's client is that excellent in terms of UI although I agree the functionality in a lot of ways is there.

That is just sloppy work. An example of a bug would be that sometimes when people buyback the buyback icon stays on screen, so next time they die I cannot see their timer. If you look at the known issues list there are over 800 known bugs. That is horrendous and shows that their priorities are wrong (fix bugs before adding features).

If you look at the features they added, a lot of them are related to adding functionality and preparing for release / make it as successful of a release as possible. A lot of the bugs are less than noticable and affects < 1% of games or aren't significant enough of an effect to change. Seems to have worked.

Being aware of a bug and being able to fix it are far from the same thing. And how do you know that the people working on fixing bugs are the same people working on adding features?

LoLs client in comparison is an abomination and it's really a disgrace that Riot can't be bothered to make a new one.(along with a replay system but w/e,i'm over that game for a long time now)

Valve and Icefrog's stance is that we should consider those "bugs", but by a developer's standards, most would not be considered bugs as they are not broken functionality. If it weren't for Valve's goal to duplicate DotA 1's functionality almost entirely (which is quite rare for a developer to do to begin with), all of those would be "the way things are". Casting all 10 spells twice plus activating Refresher would cost upwards of 3000 mana.
