That one's less funny after learning that off-lane Bara is legit.

Oh its actually worse. You have to play 10 games in a row against humans as well, with limited hero pool, no xp, and presumably the very bottom of the mmr pool.

No thanks, i'd rather play normal que

So thats 10 games playing mid for about 10 minutes, 5 games playing boring bot game for 20 minutes each, and another 10 games that could last anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes.

So thats anywhere between 6 hours and 40 minutes to 13 hours and 20 minutes

or more roughly, 7 to 13 hours..

Dota needs better categorization of heroes, with proper reasoning.

I understand the 10x mid practice and 5x bot games before throwing people into the deep end, but they should at least let normal matches count for the limited hero pool matchmaking credit.

It seems like that would make sense to prevent having people that are smurfing and beating up on lowbies just to get tutorial credit.

The trick to doing the ten mid games is picking the heroes that are good at pushing.

The biggest issue with the tutorials is that it teaches absolutely nothing about playing Support. Wards aren't mentioned once, detection isn't mentioned, not to mention a general "Carries should get last hits in lane, supports should not" would be very nice.

It's a work in progress. And allocation of last hits isn't absolute; it's more complex than that.

Well, yeah, but if you had to teach someone support from the ground up, that's probably the best place to start from.

Saying don't take farm as the support is probably the stupidest thing you could tell a new player. Unless the support is actively screwing up anybody from getting the last hits then the gold going to somebody is probably better than the new carry missing most of the last hits.

Yes, and in low level one does not simply lasthit. There are plenty of people that autoattack.
It doesn't matter whether you're a support or not at low level. In the land of autoattackers the lasthitter is king.

After a bit of testing I am 100% sure that the AI has a feeding subroutine. Or maybe multiple.
Tip for even attempting this: Take solo mid. You won't get a solo lane anywhere else and you want to be solo.

Also viper vs stupid ai is quite interesting. Went 30-1 or something and had to stop killing because I ran out of mana for poison attack. Ran out of hp too, naturally, but this was quite silly.

The targeting AI for DP's crypt swarm is bugged or something. Often gets flung into nothing ^_^ Bounty Hunter mid is the way to go though. Then you can try to get super high GPM for fun. I think the AI it uses is beginner or easy though because the enemy often just stands in the creep wave to die.

I agree. If you can get a lasthit, you deserve it. In a low level game, nobody would get it otherwise. Saying supports should let carries last hit is a bad idea. This implies carries know how to carry and supports know how to support. Neither is true. These roles don't even exist. New players should focus on farming to make their hero stronger, whether they're playing CM or antimage. If convenient, they can group up and use their abilities together to try and bring an enemy down.

Having a strong hero will let them get kills and win the game. Then they move up in MMR, and start losing again, and figure out that hey, farm is good on me, but this guy can use it better, etc... It's a gradual process!

This.

If you're talking about a player starting from absolutely zero DotA knowledge, distinguishing support/carry/etc. is not where you want to start.

These tutorials cover "how the game works". "How it should be played" is something that its way too early for.
