bahahaha i burst out laugh on that. But seriously though, both are masterpieces and shall be watched as a learning experience by every anime fan *ahem*. Drum+Forcestaff was my non-freefarming sniper build before the forcestaff nerf, the item is not worthy anymore on carry after nerf. Never try soulring on him but i guess it is pretty fun to get it if you had some insane pushing line up and you are not the #1 carry. I know Purge does similar videos now and then, ideally looking for someone who does their videos a lot more like Day 9 though, I learnt a lot about Starcraft 2 from his videos, and just would like something similar for Dota. The closest to day9 is probably purge, though merlini also does pretty good videos. There's also talk of a guy alan but tbh I don't like him very much. Does a lot of mistakes, complains a lot and just blames everything and everyone but himself for his mistakes. I recommend watching merlini http://www.youtube.com/user/MerliniDota

It would be nice if there was an equivalent of Day 9 for dota, the biggest question I have when watching pro's play, or streams is Why, why did they do this, or get that item, etc, and I'd just like someone to go through and actually explain why someone got or did something and the benefits of it or the problems it caused.

I recommend watching merlini http://www.youtube.com/user/MerliniDota Alan dota is OK, but I would always go for Purge and Merlini first... still, it's rare to find decent FP commentary, so Alan is still good to know about. He does indeed whine quite a lot and blame others, but at the same time he's quite good at most heroes and does a decent job explaining how to use them. Here's his channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHoldDOTA2 I watch most of his videos simply because I've seen all of purges videos already and I need my daily dose of Dota 2 FP commentary.

Are you joking? I've watched a lot of Merlini (mod on his channel aswell) and within public games its very rare that he actually goes out of his way to complain. When a teamfight fails or something he normally just explains what should have happened to change the situation (to the stream, don't think he writes it in team chat or anything).

Also i don't have the inherent respect that day9 had before startinghis dailies, which makes it rough. it'd have to be like Maelk/Fear doing the show after they retired to carry the same amount of respect. Yeah, if I had enough game knowledge I would have done it as I feel people would benefit from it, I just have no where near enough knowledge to it. I wouldn't say you'd need a lot of respect or popularity to do it, I'm sure if someone did it either known or unknown and posted on here or Reddit etc, would get popular, it all depends on the quality of the video and the information they give. I'll also check out Alan at some point.

Not to be an ass, but you're being kinda lazy.. the resources are all out there, tons of guides, good streams (pretty much any pro will give insightful commentary every now and then + tournament streams with good casters), quality discussions (here, playdota...) Every single thing about Dota except for the stuff directly related to the latest patch has been explored to death. Just play, watch, read and if you have an actual specific question, then just ask here and people will be happy to help or provide you with some resources. While I agree it would be nice to have a Day9 for Dota, I don't think there is an actual need for it. Anyway to not be a total downer, there's a couple of vids of a Chinese ex-pro explaining his thought process and stuff when pubbing, I remember them being very useful for me when I was starting out. 3 more eps on the dude's account.

I know there are some out there such as Purge as I mentioned, but using him as an example he doesn't always explain why he got one item instead of another, some videos will do it, but from what I've watched, not a lot of them. The pro streams I've watched as well they don't tend to speak, if they do it's not to explain what they are doing/why they are doing it. I have watched some tournament games where the casters will explain things throughout the game, which is great, but it does depend on the caster as there are a few that don't. I'll also check out the video you posted, cheers by the way to everyone for the information.

GLHF to you. @Incze: The vids are on the channel I linked earlier. Definitely worth watching too, it's just that for a lot of new players the fact they're from the "old" Dota will be a problem.
