Bruno has a beef with the TPL organizers so he just shits on them whenever he can. It's quite childish to be honest. I'm too mad at valve to care right now though.

I don't get the argument anyway. Bigger prize pool doesn't necessary better tournament. I'm glad that TPL changed their tournament structure. Didn't buy a ticket last time but will this time.

Instead of blaming the people taking an opportunity to make money you guys should blame the system behind it.

Valve is allowing it, you are right but nerds doing it are also scumbags and know they shouldn't fuck other people in the ass because of it. Getting a job also gives you an opportunity to make money you know...

I guess everyone in a TI-Team or TI-Qualifier team got a ticket which is norm. Since he either will win the qualifier (and not need a ticket) or not be able to attend, it's legit to sell it.

Yes, that is why some countries (such as Denmark) made laws to limits its effects. There is nothing stopping a company from implementing a solution that stops it.

Yes, lets implement a solution that stops the tens of thousands of people who all want tickets from crashing our servers

yeah.. No

Now granted, scalping -does- suck, but there is a way to solve that imo

Tickets can only be resold for original price.

Overall tho, I don't think the scalping was that big of a problem, i mean, how many tickets do you think were bought/sold by scalpers? 100? 150? Out of 2500? Yeah it sucks but there's very few ways to solve the problem of servers getting crushed

I mean hell, when the Book of Mormon came to Denver, our center for the preforming arts had its website crashed too, and this is an organization and company that sells tickets ALL THE TIME

Valve isn't in the business of selling tickets regularly, not shocking that this occurred tbh

I wonder if it would make more sense in the end for people to submit an electronic application and then have Valve raffle them off randomly instead of forcing people to stand in an electronic queue that constantly breaks.

I feel like there would be negatives to the random raffle method, but I can't actually think of what they are right now.

OOo i'm seeing book of mormon in September in Chicago :D

Oh what are we talking about?

In all seriousness, there are a handful of ways Valve has to avoid this, but I'm guessing they didn't think about it very hard.

I'm not mad they sold out quickly, had server issues or are subject to some scalping. All of that is expected. To be so brain dead to allow the tickets to be re-listed on your own marketplace is a level of retard that is unprecedented. You have to have some precautions set in place to limit the scalping. Valve didn't even try. In fact, they did about the worst job they possibly could.

True, although I've yet to hear any legitimate arguments against TPL as a tournament either. Everything that's said in that regard can be applied to D2L/Defense as well. And well TPL runs on schedule more than those tournaments, they've done interviews for the past 2 seasons after almost every game, and they bring in new casters which I personally like but even if I didn't I think it's important that someone does. And now they've also made their format potentially nicer than both of those as well.

TPL used to be quite shit, and I know some people (especially ex-DotaCommentaries guys which I supposed Bruno could sort of count as) have beef. But they've vastly improved their tournament since season 3 and on the surface I think most complaints are without foundation.

Being smarter than the average and making money in the process because of that makes you a scumbag? Good to know.
