I agree, people getting upset about puppeys language are living in a different social context. Same as cunt being offensive in the us while brits use it in every sentence.
Merlini really should apologise for accusing puppey...

They fear it way more than Ameircans do, if you consider the history of both continents, while americans pretty much freed the slaves and so on in the middle of the 19th century, ww2 and the holocaust happened in mid 20th century, which is way closer and greater in magnitude than anything that happened in America, and thus the political correctness is of greater magnitude. Can't say if trolling.

Honestly give the man a break -_-'' it wasn't nice of Merlini to point out in front of so many people (stuff like that should really be done behind the scenes lol, no need for publicisity).
I use the word often without thinking about it, but you have to understand that it can be and is an offensive word. I know someone said the gay people he knows doesn't take it personally, but I myself know several others who have had really difficult lives because of homophobic people ranging from getting kicked out of the house or bullied to the point where they've had to go through counseling for years or gone back into the closet. It's a lot more prevalent than you think, and just because you and your friends are cool with it and use the word, it doesn't mean everyone is. I know people are gonna tell me puppey didn't mean it in that sense, and he probably didn't, but you don't fucking know for sure. Yeah, that guy who emailed the sponsors is probably a dick, but the sponsors themselves really hate this kind of stuff. Don't blame the guy for pointing it out. Had merlini been homosexual I would've seen why it would've been a problem that someone had used "homosexual slurs" in his direction, I honestly doubt Merlini did more than laugh at Puppey's tweet if his personality on stream is an indication. I just dont get ANY of this, it's like if all homosexuals are supposed to be angry at Puppey since he called someone a faggot but obviously some dude cared enough to be offended instead of Merlini himself In my world Merlini was unprofessional and irresponsible as fuck, pointing something like that out. He has ALOT of status in the dota community and honestly should've known that it was a shit-storm starter, no matter if it was a tactical pause or not. THat's not saying puppey is a saint as he shoulda honestly ignored it but his ego wouldn't allow it, Merlini didn't even leave out the opportunity that it wasn't a tactical pause at all...
I agree with this sentiment completely. I was posting on the topic on the youtube video itself and funny enough, I was using "irresponsible" as well. The content of the video was fine, discussing the notion of strategic pauses objectively is totally alright. But when he threw Na'vi under the bus with to be fair, wither circumstantial and weak evidence, that it just wrong. It is especially the case when you have a large number of followers that stand a good chance of being gullible and taking his word as gospel.
He tweeted that he had nothing against Na'Vi and was not meant as slander but he flat out said it was strategic pausing. At first, he used terms like possibly but than went into certainty. He should not have done that and should have apologized shortly after. He could have asked Puppey, possibly tried to get to the bottom, he could have gone about this a number of different ways. But instead, he went about it in an unprofessional manner that caused more drama in the E-sport scene which helps no one.
And yes, even if joking, what Puppey said and did was dumb. Anyway, that be the end of my rant, discussed this enough as is.

But who's killing ESPORTS? Merlini, Puppey, /r/dota2 or Icefrog?
|
Not long ago in this thread someone mentioned that if puppey had just kept his fat mouth shut no one would have heard of this . I think that assessment is pretty much on the mark.
The disconnect in the level of professionalism that sponsors expect from those they support and what players expect from themselves is "killing esports"

Well Puppey should feel ashamed for killing ESPORTS. After all, without ESPORTS what does Dota and other games have. ESPORTS > fun.

This again ? Congrats to the guy that brought it back I guess...
Anyway, I am confused as how to play Lone Druid. I know skill/item build, I can control the hero well and there is no problem on this side. My problem comes from the mentality to adopt when playing the hero. Each time I play him I farm well in the early game but when comes the mid game, I am confused as to what I should do. I feel like LD is so strong mid game it would be a waste to try and avoid team fights to farm, but when I actively participate in teamfight I don't farm and loose relevance really fast. So my question is how should I approach the game ? Should I actively seek out fights ? Should I avoid them up until a certain point or should I farm and only fight when people come my way instead of going to farm somewhere else ?

LD's presence on the game is dictated by the strength of his item timings. You can't haphazardly farm out a game on bear--he's heavily dependent on how you use the power spikes you get from each major item you buy (how many towers you get with your first Radiance push, whether you can get a rax with your first AC push, etc.).
You should look to maximize your gain every time you finish a major item, and squeeze as much advantage as possible out of the strong item timing. When the strength of the timing tapers off, you farm for your next timing before you try to force your advantage again. Corollary to this is the need for you to select the right items that give you power peaks at the point in the game where you want them--this depends highly on the flow of the game.

without me having to go through this whole thread, can someone briefly explain what this drama between puppey and merlini is about?

Merlini said that puppey was doing tactictal pauses and brought an example that was quite suspicious, puppey called him a faggot on twitter.

Guys I figured it out! Twitter is killing esports!

And during all that the majority of people think it's a direct attack against Na´Vi, while it was just coincidence, that he was asked about tactical pauses and one of his fans provided the replay, which happened to feature Na´Vi. There's never been any intention of a personal attack from Merlini's side, who just wanted to raise attention to this kind of thing in general. People still going apeshit over it. Should just stop mentioning it from this point on.

Merlini is the /r/DotA2 champion, of course reddit will protect him and attack the CIS community whenever an opportunity surges. Either way, the same happened with Dendi remember? And in that replay he didn't do anything. It was the Dexter guy trolling around..
