If you're better than the rest of the players in the game, it is very noticable. If you feel very dependant on your teammates to win, I would say it is a good testament you're close to your actual MMR.

Normally I should feel guilty for smurfing, but I don't. On the other hand I can believe that occasional smurfs could lead to games that make people believe in elo hell. | ||

In the end it wouldn't matter though because you'd still win more than lose because you're 'better' and eventually be good enough to compete in the next range of the matchmaker. So I guess after typing all of this, mmr hell is phony and at most limits you for a couple dozen games until your mmr is more sorted out. | ||
