I personally had never heard RK as well tbh, but the most common name is often related to where you played Dota 1. Auishta, Strygwyr and Shendelzare Silkwood are a few I can think of that I also don't remember being used often, if at all. Then you get heroes like Viper and Medusa that are almost always refered as their names, instead of their classes. It's just weird and not consistent. But it is still his name, and saying that people should stop using 'dota 1 names' is just stupid if they are not referring to names that were changed. Nobody has been confused when i call Lifestealer n'aix nor when i call spirit breaker barathrum. Those are the CANON names of the heroes in DOTA 2. DP is also often called Krob, lone druid is called sylla, heck people still use traxex. | ||

Yeah only there is no easy way to determine who barathrum is in-game. My brother (with about 50 games by now) would be sooooo lost if you said bara, and there wouldn't be any way for him to clear it up without other people explaining. I'll admit naix simply goes by naix, but even so I think that Lifestealer is just what he should be called. | ||

N'aix, bara, trax, mortred, krob, sylla and so on are all CANON NAMES. they are the names of said heroes. Telling people to stop using them because of dota 1 is nothing short of silly. People should stop calling a hero by the name it has in dota 2 because it also had the name in dota 1? wat. If he wants to confirm which hero is which, all he has to do is browse through the lore which everybody has access to. The name is the first thing that is listed. Not that i don't think the name should simply be inside the game, but i wont stop calling doom Lucifer and the likes. | ||

That's the only way to know the names, afaik they aren't displayed in game. People calling Drow Traxex makes no sense to me. DROW IS SHORTER THAN TRAXEX! | ||

And no i don't assume everyone reads the lore, but acting as though people are oldschool hipsters for using dota 2 names in dota 2 is nothing short of silly to me. 5 year old habits aren't going to die, especially not WHEN IT IS STILL THE NAME OF THE HERO. | ||

Then people keep calling them that way because it's just what they have been calling them for years. That's the reason. It really isn't that complicated or something people really worry about. If everyone was starting out now, sure the displayed names would be the ones everyone would be saying. It's not because it's canon or it isn't, that's a shitty reason. If someone says Ethreain you can't possibly expect someone to know it is Lich even if it is canon, and avaible for anyone else to see. It's just not a big enough deal for people to change their habits. | ||
