You'll be hard pressed to find a Dota 2 video/guide as he's been seen as a pure support hero ever since his introduction to Dota 2, so you'll have to look before that to find information on why he was considered first pick/ban status for solo mid for some time. | ||

two things i learned: 1) rapiers make games fun 2) nyx scales so good late into the game, all 4 spells are so damn strong. impale has decent cd, range and stun, mana burn just DESTROYS any int hero (a fed, semi-carry death prophet was losing half her hp to one mana burn), spiked carapace is OP (destroys many initiations, one hit a TA meld + rapier attack) and vendetta for very good burst damage and scouting. man, this hero. | ||

You literally spam the fuck out of the other guy with poison and win lane. Most people highly underestimate his laning strength and / or eat and amp damage here and there, that's a death in most cases. Itemwise you can't go wrong with Bottle/Arcanes/Urn/Blink. Stuff like that. | ||

Also fun is playing "I am a KNIGHT" pick a knight hero, only put points into stats and passives and buy 1 sword, 1 shield 1 helm 1 armor 1 boot, ect. | ||

There was a reddit post that had the highest winrate heroes per DBR division (before it went down) and Nyx was at the top of Diamond over regulars like Drow, Warlock and Zeus. Friggin OP Insect  , apart from his spells that you outlined above he can also be laned in any position in pubs except maybe 1. Although I did see a fed nyx get like butterfly Manta diffusal so maybe that's possible too, haha.Getting dagon on QoP around 10-12 minutes is the scariest thing in the world, no side lane is safe . | ||
