since i never played morrowwind, oblivion was a new and fresh experience for me. skyrim was pretty much the same as oblivion so i got bored really fast.

It was more towards whoever said it only took advantage of what used to be a great series of RPGs. I can understand people that loved Morrowind but not so much Skyrim, since it was just less "hardcore", but I don't see how you can argue such a huge drop in quality from Oblivion, if you loved it as well as Morrowind. There was never a series of games like Morrowind.
The older games are just a diferent subset and I really wouldn't say the new ones took advantage of the hype from the first couple of games. Hardly anyone even knows much about them at all, from the general public.
I could understand if you said it took advantage of Morrowind, but then I just disagree. I think few people expected the hardcore aspects from Morrowind to fully comeback for Skyrim. I think a lot of the general public only played Oblivion tbh.
But anyway, this is probally too offtopic even for Dota2 GD standards.

Skyrim was a hell of a lot better than Oblivion, but I'm pretty sure Oblivion is almost ubiquitously recognized as the worst game in the series.

When you modded the shit out of oblivion it suddenly turned into the best game ever.
anyone remember Oscuro's Overhaul?

anyone remember Oscuro's Overhaul? That's true of every TES game though. The modding community wasn't exclusive to Oblivion.

Im not trying to imply that only oblivion had good mods, im just saying that oblivion was good with mods. If your playing any TES game without mods your missing out

Too bad cyrodill wasn't cyrodill. It was nothing like what cyrodill should have been. But hey, bethesda are masters at fucking up their own lore. Bethesda basically turned what should've been an amazingly huge jungle into plains with trees because they're lazy as fuck.
Also a big thing that ruined skyrim and oblivion was bethesdas shitty voice acting which also handicapped the modding community when it came to modding quests into the game. In morrowind the quests made by modders would blend into the game flawlessly, they wont in skyrim or oblivion unless it's some awkward or poorly done amateur voice work. Not to mention that it's impossible to get well immersed into the world, HURP I CAN BECOME ARCH MAGE IN 3 QUESTS WHILST BEING WORSE THAN A NOVICE IN ALL ASPECTS OF MAGIC. WHAT'S THAT? YOU KILLED THE EATERS OF WORLDS? ONLY 2 PEOPLE WILL REACT TO YOU SAVING THE WORLD. ENJOY.
Not to mention essential NPCs, fuck that shit, worst idea anybody could ever get in an openworld RPG.
Or the largest city of skyrim having 11 houses. Skyrim is meant to be a big nation.

it wasnt a drop of quality, it was just more or less the samething which is what made it boring.

This is the best offtopic discussion wev had in a long long time.

I'm probably alone in thinking that the morrowind main story was one of the dumbest in the series

It's kind of funny, Daggerfall (TES2) was way ahead of it's time. The total land area/amount of content was something like 1000x the size of Morrowind, and the majority of the towns/dungeons/quests were randomly generated to fill the world (only major plot-relevant cities/quests/characters were hard-coded).
The problem is that the technology wasn't there to support really good random content generation yet, so all the towns looked the same and gave you the same quests, and every dungeon looked like the same boring maze structure. Bethesda decided to totally scrap the idea and hard-code everything when they got to Morrowind. But seeing as the technology has gotten a lot better and random content generation in games these days, it might actually be good for them to revisit a Daggerfall-style game.
They probably wouldn't do it, though.

I'm still hoping for a total conversion that makes Skyrim less shit. What made Morrowind #1 in the series for me was that you had to put effort into things. None of this "fresh adventurer becomes boss of mage council within 2 days and exterminates dragons without issues at day 3"-crap.
If you are a scrub and try to punch skeletons, you die. That's how RPGs are supposed to be. <3

I liked Skyrim.
What hero would fit best in skyrim?

Dragonknight, durr. He is a dragon slayer.

What hero would fit best in skyrim? The most immediate answer would be Sven.

EDIT: i've also yet to kill a single dragon ( i have tried and failed a few dozen times), and even getting the dragonstone took a lot of preparation (and buying about 2000 in potions).
