Crit is pretty good on PL. Not as good as bfly, diffusal or heart but probably as good as manta/mkb

I've seen BoT's on morph before, and I think it just comes down to how ridiculously mobile you want to be on the map. I mean, morph doesn't have as much early/midgame as before, so i feel like sacrificing some stats / damage for BoT's can be risky...But when you are funnik, i'm not sure it matters.
Do you want me to post the summarized results of some builds for morph?

I actually played a CM yesterday where the other team would have won 100% if the PL had built heart / butterfly instead of crit and MKB. He took down one of our raxes (through bs PL stuff), we took out two heroes and forced a buy back and we all-inned mid. If he had heart / butterfly, there was no way in hell my luna would have taken him down.

Yeah, I watched that game last night. He had enough for shotgun but bought travs instead, TP'ed back to a fight and got a kill, then farmed the 2K gold back in no time. Plus, he was 14-3-1 when his team had 15 kills total (and was down 20-15). Rofl.
Well the clock was pissing the whole team off (your standard 0 hardlane experience player goes hardlane), forcing the eza to go help him while he keep getting killed in the mean time so he literally dragging the top/mid lanes down. At least the support did his job i guess >_> putting all the vision he could and got his boots at 15min....

To be fair, I started watching at around 20 mins in when morph was already at linkens/ghost and some cash in the bank. And 11ish kills.

I think you really need the damage block from linkens now that you can't cast during waveform. The shotgun is really weakened by that, because you actually need to finish the waveform to do yor combo. Makes you much more vunarable to stuns and hexes.
I'll just put it into text form as there isn't any really good way to copy paste a spreadsheet into here PowerTreads (AGI)+Linkens+Aquila Gold - 7560 Damage - 48 Attack Speed - 59 Movement Speed (total) 340 Armor - 7.06 HP Regen - 6.54/s MP Regen - .72/s + 150% HP - 342 Mana - 234 Side Notes - Has 1 single target block. Has tread switching for extra mana pool
Tranquil + soulring + drums + yasha + Aquila Gold - 6535 Damage - 43 Attackspeed - 36 Movement - 414 (+5% active) Armor - 10.34 HP Regen - 6.36 Mana Regen - .48+50% HP - 228 Mana - 156 Sidenotes - Has Drum aura, soul ring + aquila for mana regen and hp recovery. Potentially better for clearing jungle camps (move faster) - auras are nice for split pushing a tower. More mobility on the map as a whole
Tranquil + soulring + drums + yasha + aquila + ghost Gold - 8135 Damage - 50 Attackspeed - 43 Movement - 414 Armor 11.32 HP regen - 6.57 Mana Regen - .76 + 50% HP - 361 Mana - 247
I just threw this one in to show you'll get a faster EB up with this build, and its only ~500 more gold to get the ghost scepter up than to get a linkens.
I have these builds broken down more if you would like, and if you couldn't tell, i broke down the stats bonuses into the actual effects of the stats.
That analysis of limited usefulness when comparing a build containing 3 dead-end early/midgame items (SR, Janggo, Aquila) to one that only has 1 (just Aquila).
Early/midgame items are almost always going to have higher numerical cost-efficiency than larger items. You pay a high premium for slot-effectiveness.

Yeah, i'm not going to deny that, but its just something I thought I would look into because I have nothing else to do atm.
Edit: Typically, i skip RoA for this reason. I'm not convinced yet and usually someone else will grab a RoB anyways.
Also, thought it was just interesting because morphling exactly DOES have problems in the early/midgame - the nerf hit him hard in that area so finding a way around it was what I was looking into.

Yeah, people taking things from the courier and destroying it makes me sad.
Only happened to me once, and I don't even know why he did lol. We were winning and we were both playing a carry, I think he just wanted to look better in the final score screen (-.-)
Comeh, drums active is 10%, not 5%. On a side note, I#m not even sure you really need to help his midgame that much. He is decent and can have a magnificient lategame, so I would concentrate on getting the lategame stronger instead.

I included the 5% passive on the stats I gave - unless its 10% ON TOP of 5% (which I wouldn't have been aware of)
The thing about this - is that it doesn't really hurt his lategame too much. Consider you pick up EB (you have slots for this, or you may have to sell aquila / Soulring) - you can then finish the yasha into a manta style. You can hold onto the drums until you have 5 slots of core items, and build whatever you want after that.
Also, as opposed to getting treads, you can disassemble the aquila and get a *slightly* cheaper BoT :D
