 The reason I don't have Dolfrat yet is that I don't want to pay 30 bucks for a shirt...but Zonkey was a shoe in for me, because 25 bucks for the really well put together courier plush was way more reasonable...plus my daughter loves him, it's her favorite stuffed toy. | ||

It helps to make good games of course. You want people to emotionally invest in your game, because that's when the wallets open up. They had a gift essentially handed to them in the Dota brand, because there is already super deep emotional investment. But really, that's just Valve at work. Two Valve employees loved Dota and thought Valve could make a better version, so they...did. That's just how Valve works, it's quite amazing, and I'm not sure anything they do is indicative of how the rest of the industry does or can work...because so much of Valve's success is wrapped up in their unique company structure and working environment. | ||

That probably has more to do with keys having a defacto floor price that never changes, but yes, there being enough chests in the wild that people want to actually buy keys (or trade for them) certainly give them value beyond the $2.49. | ||
