Streamlining every animation would make the game retarded. Just look at how Batrider has improved by such a significant amount by changing his turn rate and giving him a strength buff.
It also makes each hero more unique and diverse. Its not like lol or hon has done that either, atleast in lol every animation is different, its just more responsive and crisp. And they just dont mean the attack animations, just the way a hero responds when moving around or when using abilities etc feels slower and more delayed. Try Kiting in LoL Try Kiting in Dota come back with your results. Don't have enough experience to surely tell if its easier in dota 2, but more woods/jungle and high ground to block LoS probably helps with kiting VS having flash at level 1 and slightly crisper movement?
Since your hero actually takes time to turn around, you can't kite while running away from someone unless they are slowed. That's the main thing. It's not "slightly crisper", it's a huge diference.
Casting animations can go from 0 to around ~0.7s. It's a huge diference, getting close to a full second before casting a spell is big. The backswing can go past 2s for some heroes, but you can cancel that.

Nothing we can do about that, I guess..

LoL's release in Korea was pretty much in the right place at the right time to fill the gap in Korean E-Sports after the "death" of BW--which SC2 ended up being altogether inadequate to fill.
Valve pretty much missed the boat on this one. As you said, nothing we can do about it.

I don't think it's altogether implausible that he'd want to learn both games (or alternatively, he wants to learn DotA 2, but has to learn LoL in order to fulfill his obligations to GOM).

So I've been sitting here for 20 minutes waiting for our opponents to kill us. So much fucking waiting.

The battle of teh MOBAS will probably be decided in China.... Everything else doesn't really matter imho. I also wouldn't worry about Dota 2, Dota 1 is around since an eternity with no lobby/money whatsoever behind it. Quality will win.

So I just converted my friends to switch Dota2 from Dota1.

Not in PH. Most people still play Dota1. But I think my friends eventually got tired of quitters.

More people still play Dota 1 than Dota 2 if that means anything to anyone. Dota 1 is still the main thing in China.

Might change now considering Valve partnered up with Perfect World to distribute Dota 2 in China. Problem was probably because people weren't getting keys in China

Just played 2 games today and... people were really chilled. WTF IS HAPPENING TO THE DOTO I KNEW ?????

Valve step up your advertising game SON!!!!!!
Also as someone mentioned.....everyone in /LoL subreddit is delusional. They actually think LoL and Dota take equal skill to play at high level. I quote "Just because Dota has more complex things to do, once you get used to doing them, it takes same skill as LoL".
@Qbek - Few posts above discusses Valve missing the boat on S.Korea eSports. That was a big blunder, and all it took from LoL was a few advertisements and a NaDa commercial. Perhaps it could've been split 50/50 market share if Valve was more aggressive.
