Even when I solo mid against no opponent I can't maintain the lane in the middle >< Same for the side lanes, I have a hard time to keep them close to the tower. On the other hand I often manage to pull the long lane close to my tower by denying very early and then tanking the creeps before they enter the range of my tower the time needed for my creeps to arrive. It just takes a little practice. You want to look at what creeps are there right now and basically determine if both sides have an equal army or not. Count the number of melees, the number of ranged, etc. Look at their life bars. Look at the minimap to see how soon your next creepwave will arrive. Then adjust it. You also should look at what the enemy is up to. If they're auto-attacking like crazy then you know you can autoattack their creeps a bit if you want to. I did all of that but not the look the minimap for the next wave part =) The problem if often the catapults, well I'll try harder.

PMS is a good item to spend random gold on for melee agil heroes. Or bottle + 4 branches. QB is nice if you're expecting a melee vs melee lane. Or get wards, courier, upgrade courier, Or just save the extra gold if I can't think of anything useful to buy.
Btw I soloqueued randomed my way from normal to high bracket in 150-200 games. Currently, my games are almost exclusively in high bracket, but I don't see how randoming is any worse in very high bracket. AP games in that bracket are still a crapshoot.
Please don't get a bottle at the start of the game. In more than 99% of cases you should never ever do that, and even in those few cases it's questionable, and rarely the best option. Also, if you're not the mid or a roamer you generally shouldn't get one at all unless you really know what you're doing. High in 150-200 games isn't that good, really. I broke high in ~30-40 games

bottle first mid off random gold is fine on a lot of heroes

While bottle first when random seems attractive(4 gg branches+bottle!) I usually like to go either a nulls or a Wraith band instead (or something tanky if you are NS or something like that), it will give you a pretty nice advantage in mid lane and you can get your bottle just fine.
its not terrible getting bottle first but its not optimal either

With that random gold I'd much rather get more stats and regen than a bottle. You don't even need it until the second rune, and you should be able to farm it by then and ferry it over unless you spent all your gold at the start (don't)

if you random mid standard build is boots orb of venom

what is the mechanic of mana removal on Clock cog? does it deal x0.75 dmg like mana burn on diffisual?

there are very few mid matchups where you can purchase lane dominance by buying 5 or 6 more damage most of the time the ability to cast spells freely makes up for the lasthit damage, especially on heroes with strong level1 spells like beastmaster and zeus

Except when 5-6 makes the difference between getting last hits and not getting last hits.

So Brax is definitely going to China, confirmed inadvertently twice on Draskyll's team. Who were the others meant to be going?

Solo queue is the most disheartening shit ever, I have seen so many autolose games, like, literally autolose from the start. In lower mmr the best heroes to go are huskar/ursa/riki or any mid heroes able to own game (if you failed to own mid then it is another autolose); and then you get higher up you see these (rus) players last pick BH/another carry etc to screw up the team or noobs who (thought they are good but) randomed heroes they couldn't play at higher level etc etc while sometimes you do get amazing team with random people who actually support and make space for you to farm D:
The rule of thumb when you soloqueue is to either pick good mid or go semi-carry (to carry the game if team failed). I always last pick nowadays so i almost always ended up with support or hardlane hero. It is getting disgusting at this stage because when you support/hardlane you are literally gambling on the mid/carry to perform well, and when you go carry you are gambling on how well the team actually know how to play the game (gank/push/support). I have seen enough players that I cursed them why they are wasting our oxygen to breathe, support who farmed when we team fight, 2v1 lane sitting at the back with me to fight last hit with me, no ward/dust/sentry when oppo have invi heroes and of course no vision for the map (i am talking about the critical vision needed moments not those typical excuse of some bad mid gets ganked/lost rune control because of no ward). I know nowadays (in my so called 'very high' skill games or whatever) people help their mid to control rune and gank mid harder but still it is not the reason to blame of losing mid because when you mid you need to have high level of game sense/map awareness in the first place.
Simply put, don't solo queue. Play with decent mate/s (attitude and skill wise). And never whine about no ward/dust etc, you should always buy 1/2 dust/ward when you play mid/carry anyway (if you needed a reference, i recently found out that 820/2009 etc always get the flying cour for team and dust when needed). Never EVER play mm during weekend (i know, it is sad). The last thing to keep in mind is don't take mm too serious, is a damn trolling mm system, nothing more (atm). Speaking this from my 1600+games experience (hell yeah i love doing my msc course so much free time <3).

from 853 gold you can buy Null Talisman 490 Salve 100 Tango 90 3 gg branches 153
6 to str, 6 to agi, 9 to int and 3 damage(that is 12 motherfucking damage bitches)
Same can be done for agility heroes, this as opposed to 4 stats to all.
You will still get your bottle just fine, I can see it work on Zeus though.

in the vast, vast majority of cases 5-6 damage isn't going to make a difference obviously on heroes like sf or invoker it doesn't make sense to open bottle first but it's fine for most heroes
edit: if you spend all 853 gold you can't get bottle before 2min you need to leave at least 200 gold open, usually closer to 300~400 though
