I think he means a Valve/Dota2 patch. Cyborgmatt predicted Tauren Chieftain but it will most likely be Centaur imo. In last weeks changelog they accidently mentioned a bug fix for Centaur.

I keep getting into situations where no matter what I do half my team feeds and I can't do enough to make up for it. This really depends...For example if you have to learn a new hero from scratch, that doesn't help with improving your rating and possibly winning that game. If you want to pick heroes from a statistical point of view, you could go with the ones listed at the top here: https://dotabuff.com/heroes/winning . Keep in mind that these values and positions could still change because of the recent patch. On that same note, I would exclude Lycan now because of the slower buildup at the beginning. A lot of people would recommend lich because of how easy it is generally to play and how much it can contribute at lower games. Ursa is also a bit similar but that you're left alone to farm up your 2 items and then go rampaging on noobs because they might not know how to deal with an Ursa. Also the decreased time to cast Stomp makes getting kills easier. Another factor is how people play in your bracket. Do all 10 players just rice nonstop or is it more gank oriented? If it is more afk farm oriented, you could pick push heroes (Chen, Lesh, Veno, etc) and get your team that gold advantage to break in at a timely manner. Also heroes a bit more gank oriented such as Pudge or Tiny(since you kinda like this hero) that can snowball hard in your favor against this type of play. By getting early kills and the map control, you can starve your enemy a bit while your team takes the time to get their core items up. On October 10 2012 17:55 PrinceXizor wrote: you don't know who i am how i play or anything. So please keep your snide comments to yourself. I never said to afk farm. ANYWHERE those were some of the words blahz0r SAID i said even though i never did. i said to play selfishly, what that means specifically is rather vague, however you two both felt you know more than me about what i meant. which is ridiculous. Sacrificing yourself to save teammates who will not act toward a victory is stupid. thats playing selfish even though it's a smarter play. it's also selfish to afk farm all game until you lose, but it has a different outcome doesn't it? so please don't think what i said means only what you want it to mean. and yes i have a temper when people ignore things i say and give bullshit reasoning behind how they know what i said better than me. and i was a decently ranked LoL player, but nothing special especially in the 2nd season where i got bored with the game and barely played except in groups of friends, not that it matters at all. and i'm a pretty damn good dota player. i however have only recently broke 400 games played of dota 2, and my games are rather random in MMR it seems. i go from very high to normal seemingly at random so i don't even know what level MMR i'm at right now tbh. but i'm a pretty damn good support player in DotA, i truly am it's what i did competitively for years, and it's what i know. but maybe you should stay out of things you don't really know about eh r.evo? stop trying to egg me on and just drop it. blahz0r responded to something he thought i said rather than what i actually said, and it frustrated the hell out of me. just drop it and stop trying to gang up on people you dislike. Actually that's not playing selfishly, that's playing smart. By not going into fights where the outcome is already determined and where your presence going in later won't change anything is smarter play. Your definition of selfish here is wrong in relation to Dota mechanics. So instead of blaming us for interpreting it as it is, why don't you re-word your statements correctly. I didn't ignore what you said, I'm telling you how things work in reality if you want to move up the ladder.

You can choose to interpret his advice either at its worst (if a teammate speaks Russian, then play selfishly and just afk farm), or as a valid suggestion (if all lanes are lost and your main carry is not getting farm, then don't suicide to save him if you're the only one with decent farm). Relax guys, jeez. Evo just dislikes me and Blahz0r is just mistaken about what i'm talking about, that and he's arrogant. just let it go. They are just derailing the thread for no reason.

I would recommend maxing battery assault first with an early point in cog and flare, then max flare and then cog with ult at usual levels. Although he has a low mana pool his spells are fairly cheap to use in lane, wand or bottle is good. Blademail is decent on him the same reason it's a decent pickup on axe, you can get a lot of people to whack on you during cogs. Pipe is a much more core item to get for the team. You shouldn't really be farming much in a game so if you can manage to get those items, a necrobook has really great synergy with his abilities too, as well as shiva. It's always dependent on your and the enemy's composition, but I tend to gravitate toward maxing rocket first. Battery assault can deal a lot of damage but you're never going to get the full duration off on a single target 99% of the time. You also put yourself at risk when you use it, being at near melee range. Overall, maxing out rocket is a lot safer and gives stronger global presence earlier on.

The easy way is to que with your (competent) teammates The middle way is to pick a pubstomp hero or a hero who can function well in a pub, this can range from Furion to Pudge(provided you are an excellent Pudge) to Night Stalker or even Bounty Hunter. The hard way is to always pick whatever your team needs, in some cases a good support will have a large influence on the laning stage and thus the game, Rubick is possibly the best one for this.(in my personal experience when you hit the higher mmr brackets this becomes the best way together with pickig Furion, I could be wrong though) I think Furion is the best out of those, why is simple You can midlane, jungle and offlane. You can help every lane You scale well and can carry late Holla Holla Dolla Dolla You can also divert items depending on the game I usually go Midas>>Meka>>Aghanims. You can also choose to go Meka first if you wish(a fast meka is glorious) or skip the sheepstick in favor of mjolnir/BKB/MKB. You can even buy wards, counterwards, courier etc. On October 10 2012 16:36 PrinceXizor wrote: bkb using heroes typically since that gives you a large window to make use of your superior farm. Bounty hunter is nice since he uses bkb well, and track gold makes up for your teams poor farm. umm leshrac is nice because you can often get towers quick to make up for your teams poor farm and still deal a lot of damage in fights. Morphling is nice because fast farm on him means you can keep the enemy team dying repeatedly most of the game, and he carries well enough to make it count. similar themes throughout the cast help a lot. Some games you will just NOT win no matter what though. and accepting that is hard, the key is recognizing these games early and playing selfishly in these games to salvage some of your mmr. Bolded part is confusing as hell, can you elaborate on this? BKB using heroes is a also a bit too vague, considering almost every hero can use BKB. QoP doesn't need a BKB always but she is great for improving MMR. The best way is to have heroes who can influence the game a lot in the early to mid(such as QoP, NS etc), heroes that are flexible(such as Furion) or heroes that can farm in enemy territory while being relativly safe(Morph, Siren AM)

Well i guess it's a reliable damage source but it kind of ruins the hope cog trap aspect anyway One important thing worth mentioning (if you are offlaning) is that you can really win the mid lane for your teammate by putting more points into flare and aiming it at the enemy mid hero, making sure to aim properly so that you don't push his lane up by also nuking the creeps. Or you can also nuke the wave to help push it up, making an opening for him to grab a rune that just spawned.

+ Show Spoiler + My prediction of the patch notes: -Fixed bug where Chen couldn't convert Roshan at level 1. -Fixed bug where Tangoes wouldn't properly consume Treant Protector. -Dark Seer has been removed from Dota 2. Sorry, guys, what an annoying idea for a hero. -Song of the Siren doesn't work anymore. No, just try it. Hit the button. Nothing will happen. See? Nothing happened. Was it worth it? -Added "All Meepo, All Mid" mode option. -You will no longer be able to control your hero if you type Cyrillic characters into chat. -Alpine Ursa is now the default Ursa model. -Ursa can no longer equip any cosmetics. -Adaptive Strike has been replaced with a new passive where, after walking into the river, Morphling will instantly kill any enemy heroes that are in the river by possessing the river and swallowing them. There's no reason to skill it past level 1, but we let you do it anyway. -In All Pick, if a player selects Riki, they will be kicked from the game, and the newly-implemented Dota 2 Tutorial will open. -Disabled Radiance from being bought after 35 minutes, because come on man, you're not gonna finish it. Just give it up already. -Fixed a bug where Invoker was being a little too much of a douchebag. -Enchantress model changed again to make her look more like a grotesque monster. -Weaver's lore changed to make him sound more pathetic. I mean for God's sake, he's a fucking bug. -Jakiro now perpetually sings the hit single "Ebony and Ivory" the entire time he is being played. Everyone on the map can hear it, and no sound options can mute it. -Fixed bug where Spectre's dialogue was overlaid with a backward version of each line. -Per the appearance of Warlock's face, his lore has been changed to reflect the fact that he's actually a Muppet. -Whenever Phantom Lancer attacks an enemy, the Final Fantasy X battle theme begins playing until he is out of combat. -Fixed bug where Luna and Lone Druid said their words all weird. -Enigma's Eidolons have officially had their name changed to "Eniglets". Added the line "Sup, my enigs?" for whenever Enigma casts Demonic Conversion. -In light of the recent Anti-Mage portrait change, his blades have been replaced with dumbbells. -Tiny now takes 200 Pure damage whenever he makes a pun about how he's made of rocks. -Death Prophet now says all of her lines as if she were a sassy black woman who don't need no man. She will also snap her fingers three times when she uses Exorcism, before yelling, "Mmm mmm, go mah sweet sistahs, go!" -Changed Sniper's model so that he is always crying. All of his previous lines have been replaced with self-deprecating statements such as "I'm...worthless..." and "Easy as shooting gna--now that I think about it, I actually don't even think I could shoot...a gnat..." Upon saying one of these lines, Sniper has a 30% chance to sit down and think about where it all went wrong for 2.5 seconds. -Fixed bug with Nature's Prophet in which meeting quota would not necessarily lead to winning Dota. -Doom Bringer's armor decreased by 1. link

Its not "something you do to climb ladder", rather the things you do to improve as a player that naturally improves your ability to play the game and make decisions that makes you better and rise naturally. You can literally just play all -ap, hit the random button at the start of the game and just play that hero "properly" and it still doesn't take very long to get to "very high mmr" if that's where you belong (sure it might take marginally longer) the idea that you have to do anything besides just playing proper dota to climb elo is a bit absurd

When I'm in a game like this I pick shadow shaman (I'm sure there are more like him), because it's a hero who needs to be with others (you can't afk farm, and you can solo gank but not very often), so after early game I go in lane with others and force them to push the tower/kill their opponents, usually it works well to do that, you hop from lane to lane helping people to win their lane, and when you killed some towers even the not so good players will have farm. Playing as 5 is also a good way to enter the mid game in low level pubs. Also whichever hero I play I always buy the wards for my team, it helps a lot.
