Do vanguards even stack? lol

That's the wrong question to ask.

IIRC correctly vanguards can't proc at the same time but getting more than one increases the odds of a proc happening with diminishing returns.

No man, If you stack vanguards with a 70% chance to activate you get a 140% chance, and anything above 100% makes your stacked vanguards more effective! Terrible joke I know , thanks though.

Nothing is more important than getting crowned with the title of 'Vangod'.

Chance of blocking = 1 - ((1 - 0.7) * (1 - 0.7)) = 91%
An extra vanguard gives you an extra 21% chance to block. Pretty terrible...

If you ever go double shield, get two stouts at the beginning if anything. Anything else is overkill, and that strategy is only viable off very specific heroes (like Axe) yet is not required in any way or form.

vanguard is actually even more awful than those numbers would show
since vanguard uses a pseudorandom generator, in practice the convergence of the damage block is pretty much 60% instead of 70, and given the nature of the pseudorandom generation, getting an additional one will lead to a convergence of something even more shit than the 1-(.40^2) = 84% chance to block that one would first conclude In practice it will be around 80% chance to block with two vanguards according to some tests ran in wc3 ages ago. Yeah, that's how shit that item is.
just.... get... a... vit booster... please

I'm pretty sure getting crowned with the title of "Sangod" is the ultimate archievement in dota 2.

Halp! What would be the best heroes for doing well and improving MMR when solo qeueing? I keep getting into situations where no matter what I do half my team feeds and I can't do enough to make up for it.

bkb using heroes typically since that gives you a large window to make use of your superior farm. Bounty hunter is nice since he uses bkb well, and track gold makes up for your teams poor farm.
umm leshrac is nice because you can often get towers quick to make up for your teams poor farm and still deal a lot of damage in fights.
Morphling is nice because fast farm on him means you can keep the enemy team dying repeatedly most of the game, and he carries well enough to make it count.
similar themes throughout the cast help a lot.
Some games you will just NOT win no matter what though. and accepting that is hard, the key is recognizing these games early and playing selfishly in these games to salvage some of your mmr.

This is probably why you lose games when you solo queue.
1. You use bkb to escape ganks? Instead of relying on map awareness/vision, you use this item crutch to allow you to farm in dangerous situations and this can hurt your teamfight ability later on.
2. Relying on certain heroes to win games is a bit iffy because what happens if your opponents pick these said heroes? You pick another one down the list? Picking based on the composition of your team is more effective if you really want to win (cough tryhard) or counterpicking.
3. Playing selfishly is really terrible as you can't just rice all game and there will be times where you need to be involved in early fights to make a difference. Getting your team these key kills and towers can help overcome the skill difference or lack of.
TLDR: The quoted portion is a terrible way of raising your MMR while solo.

They're doing some asian dual lane batriders now (seems like asian teams pick dominant 1v1 heroes, then throw in a supporter), which is different.

man you don't even read. it''s kind of sad. if you don't understand the sentences i'm typing instead of being condescending how about you ask what i mean.
1.i never said anything about ganks in the entire post so i dunno what the HELL you are talking about except you felt like being a dick and putting words into my mouth. if you took the time to fully read the damn post you'd realize that what i was talking about is that a bkb gives you a window of time in which you can't be hit by most magic (in case you didn't know what it did) and that lets you use your superior farm to win team fights. Sicne you brought up escaping ganks i have no clue what the hell you thought you read.
2. Yeah this is obvious and is why i was specific with only a few heroes, and said that similar themes throughout the cast help a lot. but i guess you'd only know that if you actually read the post instead of being a jackass. The question was about which heroes help you win in spite of your team and i gave a couple examples, mostly with common themes (helping your team with their own flaws) and listed a hero for every lane and then said to again look to the rest of the cast for similar themes. but oh well i guess typing this to you is a waste since you won't read past the first sentence anyway.
3. playing selfishly and not throwing yourself away over and over in a game that your team cannot possibly win is perfectly acceptable. but if you had read the context you'd have known i was talking about the games that are impossible to win no matter what you do. the games where the opposing team are far and away better players than your team, and your teammates actually can't do anything, you will NEVER get some people on your team to play better and avoid throwing a game away, so when you recognize those people you can go into damage control easily.
TL DR the guy above me thought what i posted was too long and didn't read it.

during your games befriend good players, play with them
edit: the post above me, holy shit dude, relax.
