Every item been tweaked or remade to the point that most of them are used widely among players. Skadi should get a remade soon and rod of atos is a questionable design (only seen viable on vang+atos silencer lol). If you are talking about builds on heroes then there is some personal preference involved, i am actually quite surprised that people dont blindly copy builds from pro games now. Quite a lot of people do not watch any pro games or very little so there isn't much surprise when it comes to pubs playing builds that would be questionable at best in any tournament or high level setting.

The amount of "troll/gimicky" builds in dota is endless, makes some pubs quite funny. Ran across a dagon axe earlier who swore by it. Blink > dagon > ult = insta kill.

Pub doesnt give a damn to pro games in dota1 but still you see people blindly copy the build from time to time (they actually said that who did this etc you are noob didnt know this etc) while in dota2 i ddidnt notice any changes so far, considering almost everyone on the server was in ti2 finals (80k+ in game viewers).

You generally DO still need Radiance because Spec doesn't have that high of baseline farming speed, so you can't rely on your midgame teamfighting advantage to get you all of your endgame items. The most awkward part of the build is the transition back onto Radiance. Again, I suggested that some tweaks to mana costs could smooth out this transition, as it would improve Dagger's usefulness as a farming ability (nukes like Waveform, Riptide, and Dragon Breath are fairly good farming skills for other carries, while Dagger's creep clearing ability is quite poor). If you can get radi in time for midgame, would you still go it though? If you get free farm and are farming like burning, you can make a radi when its still a really powerful killing item. If you then go into the other strong mid game items, diffusal/drum/yasha/vit then you would maintain dominance, would you not? These items also give an easy transition into late, with manta/heart/diffusal being strong late. If you can't get radi early on then it won't be as strong of a fighting item - so doing what you say would be a good idea. But if you have uncontested farm 'till 3800 gold, seems like it would still be stronger on spec. I guess he does have a lot of disable, could make a decent support. An aura as well.
