While the idea of a draft based on a team's finish last season had been floated, a system much like an auction has been selected to decide where the ex-Estro players will end up.
KeSPA will first set a minimum contract for the Estro players, where the bidding will begin. The minimum contract for a player is the average salary of all other players who performed similarly during the 2009~2010 season. The player will be contracted to the team with the highest offer.
In other news, Firefist has withdrawn his application for ACE and retired, while 815 has retired as well.
Hah. I wonder how much pressure KT exerted to get it changed to the "outbid" system where they could just outright buy Action, instead of the reverse-placement system where they'd have drafted last.
Looks like Oz will have to rely on MustacheZerg and PirateZerg for next season if they want to get a few wins.
Khan gets another Protoss, like they needed that.
The most talented players go to the teams with the already best / deepest lineups, thats a bit disappointing. One of the top five (Really, hyvaa, Action, Classic, Flying) would have helped Khan, Oz or MBC more.
SKT gets Kwanro, KT trumps them by getting action, woop.
Can't say I'm not happy for it but I was really hoping some good players would find their way to Khan and Oz. Proleauge just didn't seem right without them kicking ass.
Action on KT is overpowered. Blizzard should release a patch for SC1 in order to balance the Korean scene. Both Really and Flying to woongjin is overkill. Zero, Free, Really in the same team - Cointoss will decide the ace each time.

They offered the most money. I was kind of wondering when KT would pull their usual maneuver and try to buy up their weaknesses. It worked with Luxury, sort of, until he cheated his way away.
At first I was gonna say holy shit how the KT end up getting a draft spot good enough to get Action. Then I saw that it was auction-based. KT Rolster mafiaing it up with the MAFIA ZERG, Action. Damn, this is gonna be crazy. I wonder if the "KT Curse" will fall on Action or how he'll do.

He has a fantastic lategame but a pretty lacking earlygame as far as I remember. He hasn't done much extraordinary yet (his main feats thus far is getting to the Ro8 in the last OSL and then getting roflstomped by Jaedong, and almost beating Flash once in an epic game), but he has shown a lot of potential.
Action has potential, and played a pretty epic game against Flash in a KT-eSTRO ace match. His lategame ZvT defiler use is his high point, as seen in that game. He isn't so great at the other matchups yet, but he made it all the way to the OSL quarterfinals this year, which was equal to Zero's performance and only beaten by Jaedong.
Mostly people are comparing Action to SKT's acquisition of Kwanro. Kwanro doesn't really have "potential", per se; he's kind of got his all-in thing, and the rest is sacrificing ultras to mines. Action has shown that he has the ability to go beyond that.
Free/ZerO/Really/Soulkey or Flying... quite a scary lineup WJ has now, except for Flash-imbaness I don't really see any stronger team right now. In fact if they had anyone to beat Flash in Ace, I would favor them even over KT. Yes, even with action. Free,Zero,Really > anyone in KT but Flash when it comes to overall skill.
WOOOooooooooooooOTTTTT, Action to KT? ;:D:D:D:D::D How epic is that? KT is totally winning the PL this season as well if they can refine Action and make him reach his full potential. Finally they have a strong Zerg. I would pay some serious money to get a reppack with practise games between Flash and Action. ^__^
I really wanted Really to go to Samsung though. They desperately need a solid T.
And ya, Woongjin are looking pretty stacked. In the trio Really/Zero/Free they have one A-class player from each race.
Yeah I'll also chime in and say thay Woojin is lookin' hella sweet now with the zero/really/free combo. I also think soulkey has some potential. While I don't think KT acquiring action is over the top, I would really have liked to see him go to Khan instead. Khan really doesn't look good at all in the face of the mergers and drafts.
In any case, this is going to make for a really competitive proleague season. Perhaps one of the best yet.
Haha, SKT must be wishing they didn't spend that dough on Kwanro and waited for Action. As some has said, Kwanro's lategame is non-existent, he will never be able to rise to the top not being able to macro. Action on the other hand has the potential to be beast.

i am gonna go ahead and assume you didnt watch these ones yet.
Stats is a mothafuckin beast, he has a 3-1 record vs zero and I am sure he would beat free or really. fOrGG has a descent chance vs zero and really, vs free, maybe... Action will roflstomp really and take a good shot at anyone else, except free Violet is meh Flash, all 3 above has taken games of flash in the last year.
I would've liked the players to balance other teams more, but I'm happy for them that they won't be totally broken up. People are missing that many players got to remain with at least 1 other fellow team-mate. And Action got to go to KT, which is just as good .
Really and Flying sticking together. hyvaa and Classic together. Action on the best team in PL, which doesnt have a zerg, he'll get games. And Grape gets to learn from 2 of the best protosses ever, Stork and JangBi. So it's kinda nice .
Just watched the action versus flash replay, and i have to say after seeing that game it saddens me that action will no longer being going against flash in pro games, since that game was in a language I dont understand a single word of, yet was probably the most exciting game ive seen, MUCH BETTER entertainment than that big flash versus jaedong upset. Defiler play is MUCH more fun to watch than mutas. That being said, I hope action continues to improve, would be nice to have more than just Jae v Flash all the darn time....
I was worried before that all those woongjin players retired because of cost cuting. Now I see that it's true that Woongjin just wants to get rid of unmotivated players.
Hopefully Action continues to get stomped by Bisu every time they meet. KT and SKT are really looking like serious powerhouses this time around as long as Bisu starts playing like the S-class we know he can be.
Why do I have afeeling that the guys who withdrew from ACE weren't interested in playing BW again, and that if they were to get out of the military they'd just go to SC2 if anything :x

Wooo action to kt. Wonder who KT's captain will be with no 815 or firefist. If its not yellow I'm thinking it will probably be Flash or Violet since they've been around the longest.

Tends to be one of the oldest players. Flash is too young. Violet and Tempest are the oldest players, Tempest by a few months. Which doesn't matter as they're born the same year so considered the same age. So rotational for those 2 I am guessing.
it's hard to say... reach is the obvious choice if he doesn't move on to sc2 as is rumored, as he's out of the air force at the end of this month and yellow is still in until the end of december.
Hite and CJ merged so they will be fine. SKT didn't improve but they will be fine. KT, Woongjin, STX improved from this draft. Khan, MBC, WeMade, and OZ got the shaft.

Considering the drafting process he definitely would have a higher salary so KT could secure him.
WooT! Really to finally give Stars a Terran lineup worth talking aboutt and flying to take over for guemchi. Woongjin for pl champs with that kind of depth
Damn Proleague is gonna be insaneeee now, can't wait! :D and can KT get anymore imba? :O I hope the drafted players really improve in their new teams. I wanna see Action with great early and mid game and Really to stop playing like a blind vs zerg lol.
Action to KT is unfair. That team just got much better.
Woogjin also came out well getting Really and Flying.
So fucking sad to see estro go. Has been my fav team for years. Sigh, a sign of the times.
With this news, people shouldn't say KT has the PL championship for sure. Many other teams became "super-teams" as well.
Woogjin just solidified their lineup. Hite and CJ merged into a powerful team. T1 still has the deepest lineup if everyone played at their potential, like we have seen them do before.
These 4 teams will battle it out for the championship. I feel bad for the rest of the teams tho. Oz is going to get crushed ugh..
wow, very interesting results. KT will be even more dominant with Action, and Woongjin just became scary too, with Free, Zero and Really, and Flying to boot. I'm disappointed by STX's picks, an other mediocre zerg, with an up and coming terran to compete with Frozen and Bogus
This season is looking to be very interesting with CJ-Hite, KT, Woongjin, SKT and hopefully STX competing for the top. May it overcome all legal obstacles.

Khan is probably the cheapest team left. They even cut Storks pay for this season. Also, is KT really the mortal enemy of Khan? I am more down on SKT1. I guess you mean Flash. I wanted Khan to get Really too... we have literally no Terran. And now we have Protoss no. 300.
can't believe SKT spent money on Kwanro but let KT take Action... he looks so happy in that pic, probably because he knows if PL does occur he's gonna lift the trophy at the end.
Fewer players and fewer games should hopefully let the better players shine more. Woongjin is gonna be tough, but goddamn KT looks set. Retraction may end up being good for BW, it looks like there may be some more parity.
God KT is way too powerful... I kind of like Action going to them though since my two least favorite players will now be together, so when/if KT gets defeated I'll be double happy.
KT has come a long way since the days of Flash and Luxury:
1. Train Violet into good toss player (nice!) 2. Train ForGG back into form (now a rounded team) 3. Train Stats into great toss player (now a playoff contender) 4. Add ugly "Rolster" to their name (bad~) 5. Capture 1st place in regular season (what the hell?) 6. Steamroll over SKT1 to win PL Finals (...) 7. Draft Action (noooo!!!)

Leta was captain of Hite and I don't recall him being the youngest at the time. Tempest and Violet are older, but Flash has been around longer than Tempest for sure and at least Violet A team wise. I'm curious if Yellow will come back and play or be a coach. There's a vacancy for coaching Zergs since Zergbong left to play SC2.
Khan got another protoss. That's really valueable.... T_T Should have tried splashing some cash for Really. That signing could have made them a super competitior against with SKT1 and Reach. (Or jangbi could get his form back. Whatever happened to turn? T_T)
When Upmagic got kicked out and Sangho retired, estro became completely a new team with all young players. This is a blow but at least they'll carry on :[
At least the 5 core players, Really, Classic, Action, hyvaa and Flying didn't go to 5 separate teams. Really's with Flying, Classic with hyvaa, and Action joined up with Flash.
Daily E-Sports states that Action is getting paid 40,000,000 won by KT, which is a pretty good sum. I might even say overpaid, since a lot of that must be on potential alone.
Well they just recently released 3 zergs from their line up in luxury 815 and firefist, I'm pretty sure "overpaying" one zerg who most people see as pretty great is actually less costly than what their team was at the start of last proleague season.
Dude that is rigged as hell. I suppose this is good since money is still going into SC to show that it can somewhat compete with sc2. But damn this shouldn't even be called a draft if this was the way it was conducted. Action to KT is rigged as hell. Gonna miss Really though, dude was so good and cute.
Oh jesus christ. I guess it's nice to see a struggling player like hyvaa get picked up without a problem but unless the rest of STX stops slumping I don't see how the situation is supposed to improve. I hope this ends up being a good move for everyone involved. Really's big weakness was always zerg so I suppose he's on the right team.
By the way, the database is a bit messed up right now.
Started his career for hite Entus Joined SK Telecom T1 on October 2009
OMFG THE MOST AWESOMEST ZVT LEFT IN BW HAS FLASH TO PRACTICE AGAINST NOW HOLY SHIT
I'm SO freaking happy none of them went to SKT or OZ... soooooo happy I can't even begin to describe it... I am so glad I don't have to have an excuse to root for that team now >.>
I wonder how playoffs are gonna work with 2 less teams. I imagine they'll just remove the second seed and make it 5 v 2, 3v4, winner's game, then winner vs 1st. If that's the case then it seems like things are pretty stacked this season. SKT, KT, Woongjin and Soul seem absolute shoeins compared to the rest, and I guess the fifth spot would be the most contentious with hitecj/wemade/mbc/oz all in within contention.
So much for parity. Congrats to KT on another proleague win. On one hand, I understand the notion of rewarding sponsers who put more money into the scene, but on the other hand, the competitive balance suffers greatly this way. I'd have preferred a draft based on placement.

Then they probably had to outbid a few other teams to sign him.
was kinda predictable that kt would get action. i think he really impressed flash in their epic game. and kts zerg lineup was really weak since the departure (cough) of lux. now they got a strong and promising new zerg again. and flash got a monstrous practice partner for lategame tvz....
woongjin getting really also is a smart move. now they finally got a somewhat decent terran. or any terran on a-teamer level at all...
im glad the talented guys from estro found a new team.
Wow, it looks like Wongjin can become a real powerhouse this season... I want it to start already! I'm tired of all this SC2 being the only thing streamed
I was hoping each player went to a team with a player that's a good veteran of the same race so they can grow to their full potential. I feel like Estro players had their skills stumped because they did not have any extraordinary players to learn from.
So good moves for hyvaa and flying since they have Calm and Free to learn from respectively.
But for Really, Classic (Hwasin ), and Action, they don't really have anyone still However, they do have better players to practice against now so who knows.

imagine how godly actions lategame zvt will be after practicing with flash....
Glad KT picked up Action. They needed a zerg in the worst possible way, and action is pretty damn solid all around, much better than HoeJJa and who-the-f***-are-you-rOo.
KT looking to be the strongest team again in proleague? Especially with the new 6-man-ace format?
This sucks balls for CJ. Team loses EffOrt, then they get a chance to bring a promising zerg who can fill the void and they bring a f**** practice partner?????. I´m really pissed off. Either make a deal with EffOrt for this season(which could be the last) or go nuts and go for JD. I´m sure that with how things are turning up, JD won´t mind a team change so he can properly challenge KT and T1 without having to call MoustacheZerg and PirateZerg.

Yes, Leta wasn't the youngest, he was the oldest. Afaik it's always the eldest. It's never about how long you've been on the team or how good you are. Hence we never saw Stork/Bisu/Flash or any other great player captain, until due to retirements, Jaedong and Leta became the respective eldest players on their teams.
