From looking at 2008 - 2010 events, it would appear it is usually early April. Sources: 2008, 2009, 2010

So just to clarify, this will not be just the winners from Raleigh and DC with some other invites? The public can actually buy player passes to enter the championship event?
Also, having passes available to purchase before knowing if we need to purchase a pass or not (placing in top 16 overall from DC) or knowing if you'll get an invitation to this event is a little odd, do you have any suggestions regarding that issue?

As for your 2nd question, because of the short time frame between DC and Dallas, the Dallas Passes had to go on sale before DC.

Once again Incontrol makes a good point. Be careful if you ignore his question. Incontrol's heckling skills in podcasts are unmatched. Last week he heckled Artosis and all people found afterwards at Artosis's apartment was a small toad complaining and eating grass.

This is kinda weird, I'm not sure why Dallas and DC are so close in proximity. If Dallas is the national finale, shouldn't the DC results be really important in determining the finale player list? I mean whats the whole point of the "points" system if the national finals works the EXACT same way as the previous two events?
This really makes no sense to me O_O

The whole points system is really dumb and just seems unorganized.

Despite all the QQ in this thread, I think MLG is doing a great job overall for the first few events. running a new venue is always tough, some things just need to be experienced before you make them perfect, I have full confidence MLG SC2 will be even more excellent in 2011.

how do you guys afford these trips

I see MLG is no longer hosting their national championships in Las Vegas anymore. I do like the quality of the VoD; a lot better than GomTV's :p And for those who are new to MLG. MLG has been doing this point system since they started and it's actually stable. The point system is ideal for team games because of roster changes and such but this is just 1v1.
Feedback: Allow more than 64 passes for the next season. SC2 is a very huge PC title with a lot of competitive players in its community. Though it's not as huge as S. Korea, it still has a very active role in the US cyber world.
Boost the prize money a bit. If you go on with allowing more than 64 passes, it will give you more money laying around to help boost the prize money a bit.
Game Settings. I believe knocking out Blistering Sands from your maps is ideal. Kulas Ravine, Delta Quadrant or even Steppes of War to me is a better map.
-----------------------------------------------------
MLG is doing a great job I believe with SC2 Pro Circuit. They already picked up the ideal casters (Day 9/JP). A lot of people love HD/Husky but the only thing I dislike about them is their teamwork. Husky tends to want the spotlight all the time so he will talk and talk and talk. HD doesn't know what to do so he just "yeah" "uh huh" and etc. Plus their knowledge of the game or insight should I say isn't up to par with just Day 9. I do however like Husky's jokes from time to time.

Love field is also a home base of SW Airlines which has cheap fares and of course there are always cheaper hotel accommodations. I would definitely be looking at signing up somewhere so close to home if i was just a bit better. I'd be a waste of space at this point, maybe next year

All I'm going to say While it's definitely encouraging to hear the replays will likely be out at some point, given that Raleigh is 6 weeks behind us (as well as the fact that the VODs are already out), it seems reasonable to expect a bit more detail as to what the hold up is and/or when we might expect the replays to be made available.

Hey folks, Replays for Raleigh are coming. Had some logistical issues getting them from the event to publication. Sorted out now.
I'll man up and say that it was mostly confusion sown by yours truly (ME). We're squared away now and they will be released before DC. Post DC, they should come out MUCH faster.
Thanks,
Lee

I'm really excited, finally an event somewhere relatively close - I am so dying to meet Day9 I'll be driving down from OKC with a friend.
I must say I'm a little disappointed with the venue choice though - we chose to stay at the Anatole when we came down for Quakecon and were VERY disappointed. Apparently when you pay THAT much for a room, they think you enjoy paying for things like a simple continental breakfast ($30+ a day) and parking (it's not even free if you're a guest..). Luckily, there is a Denny's very close.. but other than that the only food place nearby was Subway and the neighborhood all around there is quite shady from my little experience..
Needless to say, we'll be looking for another hotel and driving in for the daily activities.

Guys, passes are still on sale. Don't make me regret fighting for more spots for Dallas and then not sell them out

God damn, this is in like my backyard. I'll probably spectate but competing would be fun.
Too bad I'd get shot down in round 1.

I got my pass. Everyone saying "oh I can't play because I'll just lose" where are your gonads???! The players pass is practically the same cost as the spectators pass so go play, give it your all, and have fun.

If anyone's thinking of booking a hotel, found this info on the MLG forums.. Apparently a manager at the market center Holiday Inn knows about MLG and hooked up a $10 coupon code (ok nothing big but still nice).. This seems like a good choice if you're like me and refuse to stay at the Hilton Anatole (I had a very bad experience there for Quakecon this year). They have a complimentary shuttle so no need to deal with the parking issue at the Anatole, but it looks like no free breakfast. Luckily there's a Denny's right across the street to the east of the Anatole.

This hotel is just across the highway from the Anatole, can't be more than a 2 minute drive away.
edit: another thing I noticed is they say they have free wired and wireless internet, kinda nice.

It's weird to me that these aren't sold out, giving how much whining there was when people couldn't get passes for DC or Raleigh, Texas players, where you at?
|
So I just bought a pass. I take it now I just wait until near the tournament and you'll send me an email about it?
|
Bought one.. ready to get wrecked xD.

You posted the deadline as 10/12, but the MLG site says 10/19, Do you know which is correct? Thanks!

If you have a pass, you should go to www.mlgpro.com/teambuilder and put in your contact information.
Then you will just come to the event during the check-in hours, and check yourself in (see first post for schedule).

Do you HAVE to stay at the hotel if you go to MLG? I live about an hour up the road from the venue...
|
Does MLG still have the rule that no PS/2 keyboards are allowed?

Players may not use PS2 interface equipment. This includes the PS2>USB adapters, which are also NOT allowed.

Looks to be the only way to get a spectator pass. Hopefully work schedule works out so I can drive up from Houston. Would be most kickass to see this live.

Okay, thank you very much. This will be my first important event I ever go to (in anything!)

BTW - when will the 8 players who will receive stipends be announced?

I'm confused why D.C. spectators were free but you gotta pay $25 for Dallas. Is that right?
|
On October 25 2010 03:45 Neo.NEt wrote: I'm confused why D.C. spectators were free but you gotta pay $25 for Dallas. Is that right? MLG DC was both a Pro Circuit and a Doritos Combine event in one. Deimos could correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it has something to do with the Doritos sponsorship since all Combine events are free to spectate (whereas regular Pro Circuit events are not). Since Dallas is a regular Pro Circuit event (the Combine season is over), you have to pay for a spectator pass.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Dallas is only a Pro Circuit event, so the spectator passes are 25$.

TL really needs to make a section on the front page for live events. They should have somebody making constant updates with results and links. I get better SC2 event info from the quake site I frequent. No offense TL, but it's true.

**Question**
Can you purchase a spectator pass at the door?
I've looked through MLG's website, but I can't seem to find anything other than the online pass that is no longer available. Searched TL and can't seem to find an answer here either.
If anyone knows I'd greatly appreciate the info ^^
Thanks!
