I know why Rekrul hates those english teachers in korea. When he was living the hedonistic life raking in tons of cash from playing poker, he felt like he was the king of the world. He would be spending so much money drinking and clubbing and what not which made him better than everyone else. When the average, normal, white person would acknowledge him as "brethren," he felt like his high status was being lowered to the levels of these poor individuals. He was way above these people in status (monetary), yet these people acknowledged him as equals which reduced his value significantly.

Basically, imagine a King dressed up normally who walked around the streets during the day, and a normal villager would greet the king as though he was one of them. They would sympathize with him because they knew what it feels to be "normal." Instead of getting people bowing down to him, they treat him like equals.

This pissed off Rekrul which explains the source of hatred towards english teachers in Korea.

I am an English teacher in Korea. And yes I have indeed met quite a few who are twats in Korea.

The twattish English teacher is almost exclusively from America. He is white of course. He failed horribly with his education so he decided to fuck up other people's education half way across the world. He does not give three shits about Korean culture. All he cares about is nailing as much Asian pussy as possible. He was probably a social reject back in the States but in Korea he has transformed into the most arrogant piece of jock shit one can imagine.

Edit: actually fuck the English teacher category. I'm just going to generalise it to the majority of Americans (per se) that I've met in Korea.

And when this kind of person pulled Rekrul down to their level by greeting him as "brethren" or equal, he got mad which started his hatred.

You can try to dust off my comment with sarcasm, but it really is a good theory. You may not consciously acknowledge it, but the source of your hatred to these people had to come from somewhere. This seems like the most logical possibility. Other possibilities are that you got in a fight with a english teacher who kicked your ass etc.

4 out of 5 that I have met are all fuck ups in one way or another. They are always doing shit that would never fly and they would never attempt in usa. Bragging about all the 'bitches' they score all the time to everyone as if anyone cares. Giving people (me) annoying and weird looks in the streets. When I studied korean at a hakwon for 3 months I had this kid in my class that was an english teacher and we had a really hot teacher. He kept hitting on her in a douche-baggy "I'm cool and funny" kinda way. If he just did it once or twice to be funny sure but he did it every day and it was annoying as hell. It's like dude...a. you have no shot wih her and b. you're not funny and c. I'd like to see you try that shit on a white girl.

Another time I was drinking soju and beer outside a pyunijum at night with my roommate, 3 korean american girls that were his co-workers, and this korean friend of theirs and a friend of his, a white english teacher guy that was trying to fuck one of them that they classified as a friend. Just random drinking and fun I never talk about poker or $ to people that don't play themselves but this kid was asking me what I was doing in Korea. I replied "Living" and hes like, with a very condescending tone: "uhhh you don't have a job buddy?" and I'm like "oh yeah I have a job I play poker." then he looked at me with a disgusted look and goes 'ooooooookay buddy don't you think about your future?" i said "hmmm not really why worry about the future we live in the present" then took another shot then he wouldn't stop pestering "uh so how do you make money and survive..." im like 'wtf man i just told u i play poker what do u do' then he started bragging about the high level classes he teaches and im like 'ok good for u' then hes like 'so basically ur just out here with no life' and im like 'i guess so' i was happy and drunk so there as no reason to let this pest anger me in anyway, but then my roommate got really irritated at the whole interchange and stood up and goes "LOOK YOU FUCKING IDIOT HOW LONG HAVE U BEEN IN KOREA?" '5 years' "WHY DOES DAN, WHOS BEEN HERE 3 YEARS SPEAK FLUENTLY WHILE U, WHOSE BEEN HERE 5 SPEAK BARELY ANY AT ALL AND IF UR WONDERING HE MAKES MORE $ THAN U EVER WILL' then the girls were like wtf whoa whats going on (LOL KOREAN GIRLS) then the kid just kinda turned to his kor friend and is like i guess we should leave...

then they got up and left.

it's pretty true. The asswipes who would be complete losers in their own towns and universities back at home come to korea and think they are hot shit. I've been hit on by American guys thinking that I'm Korean-Korean (and I'll play the part) and it's really pathetic. And to know that this shit actually works for them! These are the guys who give America a bad name.

When I used to teach here, I hated saying that I was an English teacher. It was almost embarrassing.

Alright, wow, that is a good post. Thanks for explaining it out, now I can understand better. Also, the fact that you do not immediately judge english teachers is good, but based on your previous experience I can see why your general impression of them is negative.

It's cool that you you have the "live life in the present" kind of mentality, there is a certain amount of thrill in that kind of lifestyle that is pretty appealing. Coming from an asian family, it is ingrained in my mind to think about the future and careers and everything. Anyway, sick life.

Honestly, being an English teacher in Korea isn't exactly a crowning achievement. To think that they consider themselves "superior to average people" is arrogant to the point of irony.

But why do you care? I mean, I'm sure that any stories they tell you about 'all the Koreans they've slept with' are fabrications brought on by their disillusioned sense of reality. And even if they can get away with acting like douches and still get women, then it's partly the Korean womens' fault for falling for that shit. So fuck both parties, and stop wasting your thoughts on them

Still, in your post, you described the English teacher as being condescending. Out of curiosity, does he not think highly of himself?

Maybe 1/10 teachers is actually good at teaching because teaching is their talent. The rest just couldn't cut it to actually make it in their profession. English teachers especially, can be fucking annoying.

You hear this a lot when you talk to people who are ignorant about teaching.

Teachers are not allowed to evaluate themselves, thx.
