Let's not forget, however, that Stork only came to this tournament for one reason: taking that silver medal, and he wont let nobody stop him.

It's like these maps are rigged so that only Terran can win.

The only reason why stork has been doing so well over a damn long period of time is because he keeps evading the msl/osl curse by never getting gold. If he actually wins this it would probably be the end of his consistent career though... so maybe its not such a good idea for storky to get gold. ![]()

Stork's problem with winning titles has NEVER been his skill level (which has been the highest and most consistent of any Protoss in history), or even the matchups necessarily. His problem is a combination of his style and his mentality. Part of what makes Stork so good is that he plays his games with remarkable consistency (considering how high of a level he plays at). But when it comes to finals, he has two choices: 1. Play to his strength - that is, keep playing the same way he always does. Problem with this is that you have to up your game in the final, and play the metagame as well. You have to do more than just play a standard BO5, because killer strategies and cheeses that would only work once against a given player are saved for finals. 2. Play to his weakness - that is, come up with some unorthodox play. This is practically a requisite to win finals, but doing so would require Stork to play away from his strength, which he is just so comfortable (and good) at doing. Thus, Stork's style is one hindrance that keeps him from winning finals. The other problem, of course, is his mentality. Now I've always felt that mental state is overrated for the most part - no question it's a factor, but not as big as people like to make it out to be always. But with Stork, this is a different story. He has gotten worse and worse at finals and the pressure is palpable - you can practically feel it watching him play. With Stork, losing the first game immediately invokes imagery of a sweep. Losing a game to an unexpected cheese or a brilliant strategy is more than losing a game with Stork, because it always brings back to the forefront the fact that Stork has never shown the ability to take his metagame to a higher level. Lastly, even when Stork is on the brink of winning, such as when he was 2-2 with Bisu, a weaker overall PvP (but stronger finalist), the pressure is STILL there because now he's oh so close. Basically, when you've lost as many finals as Stork has (and never won a single starleague title), it's lose-lose regardless of the situation. If he's ahead, it's choke away the lead time. If he's behind, it's choke into a sweep time. I like Stork as a player, probably more than most people on TL. He's been the best player in the world over several periods of times (not long periods, but still), if you overlook his inability to win finals. Of course, that's a huge if. Even his PvZ isn't THAT bad, but since his PvP and PvT are so good they make his average to below-average PvZ look atrocious. Maybe he can pull it off after all, but I'd still put my money on Flash or someone else.

Haha, that would be nice, Fantasy walking his royal road after he beats Stork 3-0. Hehehe.
