The follow-up game to the online "Starcraft" looks to debut this July or August at the earliest.
Bruce Hack, a representative of Blizzard Entertainment's parent company Vivendi Games spent 6 days in Samsung Dong, Seoul at the Intercontinental Hotel and had a press conference. He announced, "We're in the last stages of developing SC2". Although Hack did not make any concrete statements about when the game will launch, it seems that once Activision and Vivendi Games close their merger in June, we are expecting SC2 to be released in July or August.
SC's follow-up game, SC2 is gorgeous with realistic images and already there is a lot of interest amongst gamers. Starcraft is a game developed by Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary company of Vivendi Games and has sold over 5 million CDs in Korea since 1998. so... sounds like whoever wrote the article just made it up. Hack probably said something to the effect of "it will be out probably after we finish merging" and whoever was writing the article took that to mean "soon" after instead of "blizzard-time" after, which is more likely. ah this is good to know... I was starting to get pretty ticked at the Vivendi CEO for the crap he's been spouting (first the in-game advertising thing and now this "release date"). August still seems like a weird time to release a game tho; wouldn't they shoot for Christmas? Well I suppose if they released the beta in august it would be enough time to get the game out by christmas?

Very disapointed to realise you did not intend "ass-tangent" as a nown.

That GREAT, i'll have 2 weeks off from work, that month!

nothign about this news feels right, its not even in english
i am casting my doubts.

And the hype machinery starts working again. I don't care when they release it. I buy it when it's out.
In 3 days we're going to see the zerg race. Then we will have a good overview of the 3 races and the state of the game.

even if that was spoken from a blizzard representative in a press release i would bet money on it being delayed till after the new year.

Well I'm sure Blizzard have been under Vivendi since before war3. So I don't see why you say such a thing.

They've been developing the game for a couple of years, and they obviously are trying to keep the game somewhat close to the original. With their previous experience in balancing RTS-games, I don't see why people think they should spend another year just tweaking it, especially since Blizzard have always relied on patches to solve imbalances. Hopefully we'll see the game soon.

This is way too soon, I still have unscratched Blizzcon beta cards. wtf. No sign of public Beta testing, not even close of being done.
|
If blizzard says it will be released the 10th August (or something like that)
It will be released next year... they suck at releasing games in right time ( They were 2 years late with Diablo 2 patch, 1 year late with WoW expension etc.)

I loled when I saw the title of this thread :DD you made my day dude :DD

Vivendi did halflife 2 right?
If so they delayed it for an entire school year. I remember thinking "halflife 2 in august?!"
and then it came out when the school year ended -_-

SIGBET THAT THERES NO WAY IN HELL IT COMES OUT AUGUST.
Xsmas makes a lot more sense.
Least we get to see zerg =]

No Vivendi is a multicorporate enterprise. Halflife belongs to valve. Starcraft / WoW to Blizzard. Vivendi games is the subsidiary company where all distributors and developers are under.
Vivendi is in the music (universal), games, tv and telecomunication buissness.
The game is distributed by activision/blizzard and the vivendi games ceo has nothing to say in this matter.

Did anyone else actually read this translation? This looks like stupid speculation on the part of whoever wrote this. The article doesn't even have a real quote from this Hack guy at all, and he doesn't really represent the game anyway. If this little article has any accuracy in it, which I doubt, I'm guessing maybe beta would be out in July or August. Or of course maybe the game actually will be out in August, but I wouldn't base that belief on this dumb news blurb.

I Beg blizzard to release a demo of this game so everyone around the globe could try it out
|
To me this sounds like bad journalism, and nothing more.

how is this too soon, the sc2 is playable, everything is complete, all these is left is balancing. the whole god damn sc2 developmnet team is just doing balancing, balancing and more balancing. like i said before, the best way to balance it to release it and have ppl play it and figure out where needs improvement, limited brain power and man power within blizz aint gonna balance it, that will take eternity. patches can come afterwards to fix the imbalance and bugs/glitches
|
They're doing a little more than balancing it.
From the way they're talking, they're taking units out and putting other units in, and changing unit abilities.
Until they have the units figured out, there's no way they can build the campaign.
