In WTC 2021, teams are no longer required to field a player from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macau. This opens the gate for teams from Europe and America to compete in the league, and with online cross server matches becoming the norm in a post-pandemic world, WTC becomes the first premier team competition in recent years to go global after the departure of legendary team events like Acer Teamstory Cup.

Regular Season

12 team round robin. Proleague format, best of 2 series for each match-up, with best of 1 ace match if needed. Top 5 advance to playoffs.

Playoffs

Proleague style single elimination bracket, best of 7 all kill format, best of 2 series for each match-up with a unique twist: in a 1-1 scenario, both players will be eliminated.

New faces and old fan favorites come together to form the most diverse and exciting line up in CTC history.

WTC 2021 will feature $49,000+ in prize money each season, with $98,000+ total prize money for the two season year. SCboy will also launch a merch campaign in the domestic market, with a share of the revenue being added to the total prize pool.

Yeah, that's the disadvantage of having a small SC2 roster on a team. The same goes for most of the other top foreigners (Serral, Showtime, Heromarine, Neeb) and Parting.

I think its better this way.
Imagine Qlash (Reynor), Ence (Serral), Mouz (Gabe) and BIG (Showtime) formed a super team. It would be against the idear of teams and team leagues to begin with.

Yes it would be interesting to see an EU only team compete there and actually be one of the favorites. But not if we had to sacrifice actual teams, that invest into deep roosters for that.

The Bo2 format usually is pretty underdog favoured, because steaking a Single map allready feels like a win. Especially some Chinese Players have been decent snipers in past seasons.
