Ok, so you're a fighter and you're in a fight. You think "i would like to take the most effective attack, what is it, i will do that" because well that seems like a thing a fighter might do. So you optimize your power attack value. Sometimes you won't sometimes you will be mad and might throw down recklessly. Sometimes you might be lazy and wouldn't bother. Whatever, sometimes you might think "I want to be effective"
Functionally this is really easy to do (you do the math once and then once you figure out the enemies AC you power attack at that value forever) and it even makes sense that you get better at making more effective attacks as a fight goes on and you know more about the enemies AC. You know more about the enemies AC because you know your attack roll and you know whether or not it hit. Roll a 13 and hit, you know the enemies AC is less than or equal to 13. Miss on an 11 and you know its 12 or greater. Do both and you know the AC is 12 or 13.
Whatever, i am totally OK with how this works out thematically. I am not going to bother hiding a players attack rolls from themselves.
Its just useless precision. You don't really get much from it being a smooth choice as opposed to a granular choice. It slows things down when players attempt to think about it. The current system where you just look at an enemy and go "well it probably has low AC i will power attack" or "it probably has high AC i will not power attack" or similarly "I am mad i will power attack" is a much much better system. The choice being more granular aids the process.

You did, but I had no idea how BAD it really was until then. >_<
D&D stereotypes indeed.

Tell you what. I'll write a new worldbuilding post every time you write and perform a new song as your character.

Is this a challenge you really want to make?

Each song has to be at least 3 minutes long.

Does that include him writing a 15s song and looping it 12 times?

I am tempted to make Roam part Dragonborn just for the Breath Weapon...
Actually he was originally going to be a Tiefling, but his backstory didn't fit well with the Iris Tiefling lore. Maybe he'll be half just for kicks. Half Orc-Half Tiefling would be ugly af.

Nope.
3 minutes with 3 verses, a chorus, and a bridge.

I make no promise of quality. If I find myself particularly inspired this weekend, I'll expand the poem I've already written into a better song.
Rekshav, the Half-Bear
