Best bet is to have your character be silent and just let another player take over their combat. This means that the DM doesnt have to rebalance fights (even if not done on the fly and knowing who might be gone you're almost doubling the combat prep).
Might want to designate someone before hand so they can familiarize themselves with your combat options if you have any complicated ones.

Honestly, it shouldn't make a difference because the one-shot only really serves the purpose of helping Asmo pick a group for the larger campaign, and as long as you're there for long enough that he can make a decision about that, whether you're present for specific events in the one-shot shouldn't really matter.

True. Of course there's always the possibility that shit goes down during an actual session as well, but I guess it only makes sense to worry about that if it happens or if I even make it that far.
