Alright adventurers, the parties for the first two one-shots are as follows:
Team 1
- Roger Pontare [Soniv] (Human Bard, NG, Entertainer)
- Roam [Requizen] (Half-orc Paladin, NG, Acolyte)
- Khen-Ta [Gahlo] (Wood Elf Druid, TN, Outlander)
- Oolod Tumblebelly [Dandel Ion] (Rock Gnome Rogue, CG, Guild Artisan)
- Rex Olivier [MagnusWolf] (Half-Elf Cleric, ??, ??)
Team 2
- "Professor" Gimble Nacklesworth [LordTolkien] (Rock Gnome Wizard, NG, Sage)
- Amak’thos [WaveofShadow] (Tiefling Warlock, CN, Sage)
- Marrit Wright [PrinceXizor] (Forest Gnome Bard, CN, Sailor)
- Najid Al-Hakam [Guomindong] (Human Fighter, LG, Detective)
- Baridorn Galonkiir [ComaDose] (Wood Elf Ranger, CG, Outlander)
This means a few things. One, anyone who hasn't constructed a character sheet based on the rules in the 5E PHB should do so. If you need help, feel free to contact me or any of the more experienced players (soniv comes to mind as someone who knows how to write a character sheet). Two, everyone needs to go into the Iris Application spreadsheet once again and start listing times in the near future that work for you. Given the difficulty of this scheduling around the holidays, I'm not sure when everything will work out, but it should be noted that I'm NOT planning to stream these initial sessions, and the computing power of the machine you use can be estimated accordingly (basically, if you're going home from the holidays, it won't be a huge deal... I might do some of these off my laptop if I have to). I'll also need Skype names; we might attempt to use the Roll20 vid chat, but I'm guessing we'll end up on Skype in the end.
I think I have more to say here, but I'll remember it eventually. RIGHT. To answer a question of Gahlo's, YES I would like you to use the characters you plan to use for the real game. If there happens to be any opportunity for character interactions and choices, I want to see it. Furthermore, I "balanced" the teams around the classes for the submitted characters, so I'd like to stick with those if possible. [In this case, "balance" means 3 wizards, 1 ranged/DD, and 1 fighter/pally/tank]

Spoiler alert: Roger dies 5 minutes in.

wow, just volunteer me to help people...
but yeah, if you need help, feel free to PM me here or add me on skype (should be the same as my TL user name)
@Asmo - google hangouts has integrated roll20 support that I used in a session recently. It wasn't bad at all, but did shrink usable roll20 space a bit

They should feel free to ask me first, but I know you know your way around a character sheet.
I think LordTolkien, Req, and PX also do, at the very least.

What are these preliminary sessions going to be like? RP focused, combat focused, are they just going to be the Hoard of the Dragon Queen intros?

Probably mostly dungeon-crawly, combat focused. I need practice on encounter creation, I want to see how the fight process works among the players, and I want to see how tough the fights need to be to be worthwhile. There'll be some RP opportunity I'm sure, but probably not a TON of interacting with NPCs. In the end it kinda comes down to how much story I want to pump into these, but it won't be much since they won't be "technically" canon.

Oh Another question. for those of us whose backstories have a location not mentioned in your writing, have you figured out where in the world those characters are from, and whether the locations need to be changed?

For the most part, I doubt any locations will need to be changed. However, most do not have a place on the map yet. In general, most people will hail from the central (and largest) continent, Carnora, but others will be from other places as they apply. For example, some of the Elves might come from different City-States if they wanted, and I haven't determined where there are Halfling/Gnome/Human/Half-orc/Dragonborn settlements on other continents. One current example of someone that I KNOW is not from Carnora is Wave's character, who is from the continent where the Blood Empire resides (the name of which I haven't yet created).

This won't be a real DnD campaign unless someone says to Soniv as he dies, "By Grapthar's hammer, you will be avenged!"

fuck all y'all, I refuse to be the first death

Man I kind of wish my character was Neutral or Evil now so I could purposefully get Soniv killed.
Sigh. I guess I'll keep you alive, you stupid Human.
|
Also Asmo, why no stream these ones? Even if it's not full setup like it will be for the campaign, people will still wanna watch imo.
