I wanted to let everyone know of this upcoming tournament at the YOUMACON convention coming up in Detroit Michigan at the Renaissance Center in downtown November 2-3. All details havent been posted on the site yet but here are the basics:
Format: 1v1, bo3 for all matches, semifinals bo5, finals bo7
Maps: Ladder Map Pool (Season ending in October)
Prize Pool: up to $695. Up to 32 participants, $10 from entry for each player goes to prize pool, with a $375 pot bonus. So the more participants the higher the prize pool. Minimum $385 (1 person), maximum $695 (32 people).
Prize Distribution is 1st : 60%, 2nd: 30%, 3rd: 10%
$10 tournament entry, $30 tournament only CON badge. Registration is at con only
is this a byoc? is it just 10$? no price to the con which i will never care about or only play the tournament? Is there a way to reserve a spot for this specifically, as I would be going just for this only? November 2nd and 3rd? Is this just one day or 2 days? Parking? what would the prize pool be for first if 32 people show up?(well payouts, like for example 150$ for first 100 for second etc.)
edit: sorry for the amount of questions, just trying to determine the real cost of entry for this. as from what im looking on the sites, its 2 days, meaning 20+40 for entry to the con + 10$ entry. Plus parking, plus gas(which is 1 hour 42 minutes one way, 114 miles, which with a 2 day event will have to be driven 4 times)...not to mention the site also says signups start thursday at the place at 5PM =/ The prize pool just seems to low depending on how its divided to go to a tournament and lose money on a win atm. considering I havent dropped a map in a michigan tournament in atleast a year now lol (already have that crown of being the best in michigan regardless =P)...

Hi!
I will do my best to get these questions answered for you ASAP, I am not the tournament organizer, just the streamer/casting team person.
I will copy this to the organizer guy and then get back to you with the responses as soon as I can.
"Our computers (Gaming stations are there, you can byo keyboard/mouse), $10 entry, $30 tournament only badge, to be fair, registration is at con only, tournament starts Saturday / finals - grand finals - fight for third place are on Sunday."
He did not get back about the distribution of payout, but if 32 people the prize pool is $695, I will get back to you on the distribution when I hear. I updated the OP as well.

I think the biggest prize of them all would be going to this tournament and not getting shanked! <3
I'm only ~2 hours away from Detroit, but unfortunately I don't really play sc2 much anymore. Either way, GL with the tournament and I hope it turns out great! :D
Registration is open today until midnight (another 30 minutes) and opens again at 8am tomorrow (Saturday) which is the day of the tournament. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 10 am so I would recommend getting here to register as soon as you can tomorrow. Registration for the tournament itself is just outside of the video gaming room.
Once you get here and register stop by and say hey at the casting desk!
