Pro - professional - profession. You make a living off your PROFESSION. Hard to do that without a contract... and even if you win some big tournaments, thats not enough to make a living off.

People can have more than one profession, because they dont make enough money off of just one.
Therefore a pro gamer could be someone who makes money from gaming.

Slayer made 17000 dollars from bw. Thats quite a bit.

17,000 is not enough to live off. Most Toyota's cost more than that.

btw, alot of players in korea, even the ones that have a pro gaming license, make less than 17,000 dollars a year.

I'm not sure about Thor and Pillars, but I thought they had a contract as well. They have lived in Korea that's for sure.

None of those apply to me; I'm 17, still living at home, so obviously I can't be earning my living if it is still provided for me by my parents. I'm not necessarily *following* a profession, as I'm just doing it to pick up spare cash. I am NOT a professional web-designer, but I do make cash from it.

Naz, you have to understand something - I did not even know of pro-gaming, as it is, until 5 months ago. I have followed it increasingly since then, but didn't do too much checking into its past. I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else, somehow. I didn't even pay any attention to the elite scene of BW for 3 years. When you're out of the loop for that long, you're bound to get some information wrong or confused.
