I'm of the mindset that the prize pool should be structured to ensure the teams are hungry to earn more cash. So I'm not in favor of flattening out the prize pool for those reasons.
Yet, I empathize with everyone here who contributed to that prize pool and some of them wish for more players to be rewarded in order to cultivate a more stable scene.
So I think a poll needs to be made to express these competing opinions.
This is the current prize pool distribution
1st 50% 50%
2nd 22% 22%
3rd 10% 10%
4th 7% 7%
5-6th 4% 8%
7-8th 1.5% 3%
I propose changing the distribution to this:
1st 39% 39%
2nd 18% 18%
3rd 12% 12%
4th 8% 8%
5-6th 5% 5%
7-8th 3% 6%
9-12th 2% 8%
Since Teamliquid.net doesn't require people to have a forum account to take part in polls forward this to people you know who aren't part of this community.
Maybe Valve will listen if there is enough support to change how the prize pool is done.

Bought compendium and it should be distributed to top8. Question is, how it should be distributed within the top 8. Nevertheless, i'm fine with how things are.

Maybe Valve will listen if there is enough support to change how the prize pool is done. This will not happen. This discussion has been had 15 times already before the prize pool was even announced.

Why do we need an additional thread for this? Isn't this the same discussion that is already going on in the existing thread about the prize pool?

Got compendium, money to top 12. But more for the teams who place higher. Since its a paid trip by Valve I can live with 4 teams getting nothing (because the lose nothing) in return. But a bit of money for teams who get further than the first round would be cool. At least they can get a few more drinks.

It might still be a bit top heavy for 1st but losers shouldn't get paid.

Being at TI3 is already an honor IMO, but if you can't prove that you're one of the best then you don't deserve to be paid.
I enjoy that it's top heavy, makes it so much more exciting.

Yeah, I agree. I feel like every match counts so much more, so much on the line. That intensity makes it so much more exciting.
Edit: People do tend to forget that there is more and more tournaments popping up all year long as the scene is growing, so the top teams are getting some money. It's the ones that prove themselves that get to relax a bit more about the money later on.

Clearly we need a poll to see if I am correct, and then another poll to see if we should consider changing rules and contacting Valve. Then we need a thread and poll for how many women can talk on camera and another poll if people think the first poll was sexist. Then we need one about prize money, and if the invite system was racist or cause racist thoughts. Then we go to the classics, like public MMR, ladders, surrender and female teams. Finally, we close out with the classic, if the game has good design, provides enough positional play, defenders advantage and if TP is like warpgate and if it should be removed because it promotes all-ins.
That folks, is a preview of what can happen if we try to get every ones opinion on everything.
