I was alerted to this by a member of the battle.net forums and I just had to share it with my freinds at Team Liquid., just another reason why you now have to be careful when you tell someone that you play video games
Just an interesting video someone took where CNN was talking about the recent school shooting. Trying to link Adams violence towards the fact he played Starcraft 2 in his tech club at school. Of course they brought on one of the biggest jokes in the scientific community in order to get some scientific insight on the matter.
Honestly I think this man is full of bullshit, do you think the American public is gullible enough to believe all this "video games are evil" stuff or will they see right through it like us at Team Liquid?

I believe that a very vocal and gun loving part of the American public are this gullible yes.

People who are social rejects/outcasts do tend to gravitate towards video games. That's a fact. What the media is willfully ignorant of is the difference between correlation and causation.

There's a lot of people who believe this shit, because a lot of Americans are incapable of abstract reasoning (i.e. being able to draw their own conclusions from the information being presented to them), and the media at large makes no attempt to present them with an accurate view because terrifying people sells.

It's not about gullibility. It's just ignorance pure and simple. There aren't many soccer moms out there that have played video games, especially ones like Starcraft.
Really though, people just want to feel like they can explain something that is difficult to explain. It is hard to fathom true mental illness, so we blame things we can fathom, like guns, or video games. People also want to feel that they have some control over the uncontrollable, which means controlling things we can't control, like mental illness, by controlling things we can control, like guns and video games.
Hmm...let's look at two things: Starcraft and CNN's coverage of mass shootings (e.g. Aurora, Breivik, etc.). Which one of these is more likely to motivate someone to mass-shoot?
