I would expect a progamer to have a 5k comp easy... lol Ehrm imo a 21" monitor is too big. 14-19 is where you should be. Personally I prefer 15" but I use a 17" now since my old one got bad due to age. Well my point is that they are most likely similar size to what they use on tv-games. If they use 21" there well then they should practice on 21" but I dont think they do.
