I would have posted more blogs however I was (unfairly) temp banned for posting in the gay starcraft thread. It didn't really faze me because I had work.
Anyway, for those of you who don't know me, I am Serjei James. I am a controversial member of this community. I challenge the norm and seek to change peoples mindsets about various issues. However I have been unsuccessful as apparently nobody on this website tolerates anyone with a slightly differing opinion to theirs. This is unfortunate as I guess I will just remain as the pinyata for frustrated nerds with no life, who insult me to feel better about themselves. I have received hate-mail, death threats and many abusive comments.
Now on to today's topic : Suicide.
I believe that suicide should not be illegal or frowned apon.
Suicide is a personal choice. In the same way that what you eat, drink and do is your own choice.
Naturally, if you chose to commit suicide it can have a terrible impact on your family and friends. It can result in financial difficulty and hardship for people. However everyone makes choices that in some way hurt others, its not unique to suicide.
Suicide is not the choice between life and death, as death is unavoidable and thus one can only chose to experience death sooner. Suicide is about choosing whether to experience life or not, and the sad truth is, is that many living people have actually already given up on live. People work jobs they hate. They numb themselves with drugs and alcohol, they commit crime and live with extream hate and frustration. These people just as just as dead as the corpse of someone who committed suicide. People like this are dead men walking. They are the zombies the world has always had.
People choose to reject life all the time. People play on the computer instead of visiting their sick grandmother. They watch TV while their friends are out partying. They chose to live, but without being alive, they chose to not experience the world or life. Some people hide in their room all their lives.They reject life every day, and its completely legal, so then why is suicide not?
I'm not saying all forms of suicide are good, In the same way that not all choices are good.
But at the end of the day, you are always the one with the choice. You have the final choice in your life, and nobody should have the right to restrict your choices.
You make a choice, you accept the consequences. That's the way it always has been, and its the way it always will be. You are nothing more than a product of your choices. You cease being a human when you have no choice. So in a way, not being able to chose death, makes you less human then someone who did.

Interesting thread. I tend to agree with you.
Although, I do reject your characterisation that playing on your computer while your friend are "partying" constitutes "rejecting" life. It might be rejecting what you think of as a life, but that hardly means that your friends are genuinely happier.

As someone who loves life and people, suicide is a very comforting thought.
It's the only thing that cannot be taken away from me and it's final. Making choices in life is extremely hard because the options are unlimited and we have a limited amount of time.
But the truth is, most people reject life. That's why they enslave themselves into a metalife.
What is a metalife? That's what happens whenever people say: this is normal, or this is right. Whenever they have something "figured out", whenever "people grow up", "people mature". It's just a load of bullshit to justify their escape from reality.
For this reason I don't respect humans very much.

You say playing games is rejecting life but you have very little to back that up. I don't compeletely disagree but for example playing starcraft is learning to me. I'd give learning a value greater than anything in life.
Then again I don't like partying with friends in clubs because it seems like a bunch of intoxicated people embracing their stupidity to me. I think that's where your life might aswell end.

Suicide is a choice that leads to no other choices. Saying that a person runs out of choices at any point in their lives is a silly thing imo, unless you decide to suicide. So in that regard, your whole logic is flawed because you choose to end your choices.

If you want to discuss a topic, avoid stupid shit like this, and the topic you want to have discussed might be discussed.
Opening with flamebait like this is just ... stupid. Means you are not worth spending time on.

I've never heard of you... you aren't a controversial member of this community. that is absurd.
I also believe your outlook is kind of sad. Not wrong you are free to feel as you like about the subject... but extremely jaded if that is what you believe.

This was one of the worst things i have ever seen written on the topic of suicide.
There is such a vast body of work on different philosophical takes on the concept of suicide, why would you even attempt to add to it?
I mean, i could understand if you offered a new insight or a well argued insight but all you don't manage either. If i had to sum it up in one word, hollow. It's devoid of unique thought. Never do you exceed the level of a high schooler.
This is the first time i read one of your blogs but if this is the almost atrocious level that is to be expected, another can have my share.
