Poll: What game takes the MOST skill

Dota 2 (399)

61%

Hon (154)

23%

LoL (106)

16%

659 total votes

Your vote: What game takes the MOST skill

(Vote): Hon
(Vote): LoL
(Vote): Dota 2

I dont play any of them. I played wow for arena and everyone I know plays one or the other so my question is simple.

Which game takes the most skill. When I say skill it needs to encompass speed/strat/reaction/coordination. My only ref would be wow arena and my example would be the skill of an RMP mirror in s7/8 and not say RMP vs LSD where yes good players do it well but you really are nothing special to beat rmp or any other comp for that matter.

edit - im choosing between hon and LoL atm for obvious reasons and im aware that compared to sc2 they both dont have much skill to them but my friends want me to pick one and i refuse to play the least skilled. i dont trust the bias views of my friends so yes the poll is odd but I cant really speak to one or the other

This thread is pretty pointless for a variety of reasons; DotA 2 isn't widely spread at the moment and your arena reference is something many people won't be able to judge due to not playing WoW.

As for the relative difficulty, it's pretty much all the same. They're all rather easy to get into, not too hard to be good at (compared to e.g. a high SC2 league placement) and a thick skin to endure the horrible communities is much more important than any skill at the actual game.

You might as well read through http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=291087
There are plenty of explanations in that thread as to why DotA requires far more skill than LoL. Hon is basically DotA with some new heroes that are mostly really broken balance-wise, so it's nearly on the same level as DotA.

Dota 2 > HoN > LoL

but Dota 2 isn't really finished at the moment since it's still in beta and doesn't have many players, so personally I'd say play HoN for the time being, and switching to Dota 2 once it's released/more people start playing it.

League of legends actually reduces the skill required to play the game because of summoner abilities and masteries. On top of that you get huge advantages for using runes. The skill necessary to play hon at a lower level is higher than that needed to play dota at a lower level since HON is higher paced and more bursty. However, competitive dota is much more refined, therefore more skillbased.
1850+ before HON compression and 1600 elo. I dont really enjoy playing league because there are only 5ish support heroes after bans. Soraka Sona Janna Taric Alistar kinda makes you sad

LoL isn't balanced at all, so skill is irrelevant there. Summoner' spells ? Creep that buffs you ? I always wondered why the heck is it trying to present itself as an eSports title, when it's just DoTA for kids (no deny ? lol ?), but I guess all the money poured in it helps.
I know the general trend seems to be DoTA2 > HoN > LoL, but for me it's more a case of DoTA2 = HoN >>> LoL.

EDIT : P.S. : If you're looking between HoN and LoL as a sort of a "break from SC2", go watch Testie's stream. The guy plays HoN at a level that few people in the entire world can pull off. He's Ex-SC:BW pro, played a bit of SC2 and now tears the HoN scene.

Actually maybe I'll be a bit more serious here. I only play DotA, but these games are all different. Judge them by different criteria, ye should.

Dota 1 > Dota 2 > HoN > LoL

But what flamewheel says is still mostly true, they all take a certain level of skill in their own rights (I play all 3), however Dota's skill ceiling is just insanely higher and more rewarding I've found.

On a side note, those of you that think HoN and LoL are "balanced" need to try out dota to actually see what balance feels like.

Spicy_Curry nailed it. HoN is actually the hardest to play at the lower levels, it's the fastest paced of all the games.

However, being faster paced doesn't make it necessarily more skill-based, and the competitive DOTA scene is indeed more developed. Last hitting is also harder.

Really I'm just repeating what he said, but I feel I have to with everyone just blindly saying

DOTA > HoN.

And LoL is... well yeah. Every hero has infi mana and no cooldowns and a farming skill.

I see this thread going many places.

Anyway I play Dota so I am biased, I like Dota the most a I dislike certain elements that LoL has, I haven't played Lol or Hon on a competitive(scrim) level so I can't really judge fairly.

biased votes are biased

play them for yourself, OP. They're all free. Judge for yourself and play what you enjoy.

its all the same because they are player versus player and noone has reached a skill ceiling.

If competetive LoL would be as easy as described by most, i think some "real" pros would have grabbed some of the 100k$++ prices that LoL gives out regulary.
Or grabbed a share of the tens of thousands viewers that watch LoL streams

You are forgetting some pretty important points that I feel I have to step in and interject first.

1. Asia still does not have a stable or up to date version of league of legends, they are all still playing and loving dota. They have a very, very, large dota community with tournaments and leagues that most of the western world isn't involved in.
Riot is already working on this and trying to bring it to the asian communities, but China for example is ridiculously passionate about Dota. China to Dota = Korea to starcraft, except the western teams can actually compete pretty evenly.

2. The Dota community is pretty die hard around dota. If you were a broodwar pro who absolutely loved his game, would you quit broodwar in order to play something like warcraft 3 just because it had a prize pool?

The answer is no, and most of the dota community is completely unwilling to give up the game that they love just to play league of legends for money.

dota takes more technical/mechanical skill than LoL but if you have that you can just pubstomp all day
in LoL you actually have to be able to tell bads how to play the game if you want to win lol
