I just went on Fomos, and MBCGame released an official statement to Fomos. I know I can't translate stuff from Fomos but I'll do so anyway since this is serious stuff.
"With regards to channel switching etc. MBCGame has released an official stance to Fomos.
The head of MBCGame Production Jaehyuk Jang stated "It's true that the possibility to switching to a music channel is not necessarily a false rumor. However, nothing has been decided at all. The MBCGame body is still debating and nothing has been finalized with regards to the final decision. Moreover, even if such a decision is made, we would have to obtain permission from the Broadcast Telecommunication Committee and a lot of paperwork will need to be drafted and completed but we haven't even reached that point."
Furthermore, Jang says "we do not wish this news related to MBCGame to generate harmful concern towards Esports. although there is a chance that MBCGame can switch to a music channel, that means that there is also a chance that MBCGame will remain a game channel so we do not wish for unnecessary, false alarms."
He also says, "We are aware that a certain media outlet [aka "ThisIsGame" linked by WaxAngel] has published a skewed article suggesting that the switch to a music channel has been finalized. Certainly this is premature and is not the case."
so guys, let's not freak out too much and let's use this time to support MBCGame as much as we can!
My take on this is that the execs are testing the waters. I hope the fan reaction is enough to dissuade them. If not, I hope the KCC steps in to stop them. MBC still needs govt approval for this to happen.
Yeah, the feeling that the commentators from MBCGame leaked the news early to get a reaction from eSports/BW fans to discourage the MBC execs from going through with the turning MBCGame into a music program channel idea just got stronger. I really hope that the fans' outcries will bury MBC's stupid considerations.

Yes, that was my initial impression. Because if not for those tweets by Kim Chul Min et. al, this would not have surfaced in such a dramatic fashion. There were rumours about this floating around in May but most people just ignored them.

mbc commentators proving that they're not just good at screaming, but also good at saving esports?

If the rumors were floating around in April/May, then the MBC execs' considerations must have gotten stronger around this time, so Kim Chul Min must have reacted quickly in order to "save" MBCGame...
The plot thickens! If MBCGame is saved, then the real hero behind all this must be Kim Chul Min. :O

Yeah I'm hoping the public backlash they'd get for this will prevent them from pulling through with this. Honestly, if they kept broadcasting BW during primetimes and didn't remove MSL or Heros and just used other times to show their looped k-pop stuff I'd be fine with that too...

Well, there were several others involved, just about every producer/commentator who has twitter was hinting stuff this morning. All except Shark.
Edit: But yeah, Kim Chul Min's conversation with yooi was the most telling.
There is nothing premature about the outrage. There should be outrage that anyone with decision power at MBC Game is even considering this sort of thing. If it were ever to get to the point where something is finalized, it would be too late to start crying. So the right moment to be outraged and cause an uproar is right now, and that someone even voiced the thought of turning the channel into a music channel is a good enough reason to do so.

Yes, but eventually they have to choose one over another to concentrate not only their resources but also their business competency. Ya'know, is business as usual. Tbh although there is small hope, I think this is only a buffer. On day, sooner rather than later, we will have to say goodbye to professional BW as we know it now.

Then that means the MBCGame producers and commentators are all heroes. My respect for them has gone even higher. God I love MBCGame's commentators. Such epic screaming and acts of justice from them! And MBC sponsors a team called HERO... The pieces are coming together

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but it looks over from this.
Translations:
KCM (Commentator for MBC, reaverreaverreaver guy) : "This summer, a nightmare awaits us all..." I hope that it's only a tagline for a movie, but it seems to be reality.
Yooi: What does that mean Hyung? What's happening?
KCM: You know what it's about. Keep playing soccer, like you always have.
Yooi: It's over, isn't it...
KCM: Yep.
fjlksdjflaksdfjsklafj I've watched BW for nine years since I watched Junwi live at the COEX Mall back in 2002, when I was in middle school. Now nine years later, BW is a part of my life and it's crashing down around my ears.

I just hope it's not all in vain.
I hope so as well; heroic efforts should never be in vain.
Well that's nice to hear, but the emotion about the article in question really is keeping me concerned. These ESPORTS crises always demand some serious thinking to come up with an appropriate view.
EDIT: God damn, this is really affecting me. I've been suffering only bad news for a while when it comes to BW. A handful of my favorite progamers getting caught up in the scandal, this STX reshuffle, and now what looks like an MBC crisis... I don't know how much more of this I can take.
