quick question, hope someone can answer this. i bought a logitech controller (like a playstation controller but it plugs into the USB port on a computer) for playing roms on emulators. my first attempt at using it is with ZSNES but it doesnt seem to know there's any controller in there? like when i go to configure-input #1, my only choices are [none] and [keyboard/joystick]. anyone know what to do to get it to use the controller?thx.

It's a joystick, technically. Just pick that and set up the keys.

i bought a nice controller (nyko airflow) from radio shack for 25 bucks i think? seems like a large initial investment but it OWNS

playing the emulator with a gamepad >>>> playing with keyboard. it's just like being 12 again, i swear. i am considering buying another for two player ;O

edit: i use zsnes. are you aware that znes has enabled network play? one of the coolest features, imo

sure id love to play mario kart, got a usb controller like a week ago myself especially to play snes roms for.

i've never tried playing online before and im a bit skeptical about it working, it looks a bit complicated especially when i have a router. anyone who wants to test it out with me my msn is ket1984@gmail.com (oh and also pm me for gmail invites

). The default port for it seems to be 7845? that's whats filled in by default so i set up port forwarding on my router for that port? tips are appreciated

is zsnes really all that good? I've always used snes9x for as long as I can remember and that works just fine till now

hm i just tried snes9x and perhaps the video options are wrong by default and my attempts to set them made it even worse but games run in a tiny part of the screen and when i go to the "stretch to fit screen" option it makes the graphics pixellated and a bit horrible. on zsnes i didn't have to touch any settings and the games/colours look beautiful and as they're meant to.

snes9x always had more advanced features then zsnes, such as anti-aliasing and more robust netcode. I think it even supports true multiplayer (more than 2) now. However zsnes always had better performance/compatibility, and was usually the first to support odd roms that had custom processors put into them like some of the street fighter/mega man games. But on todays pc's, snes9x will run just as well as zsnes, and is probably a better choice given the more advanced netcode.

the thing that sucks is you can only use one controller ( at least i could) it wouldnt recognize my other controller in the 2nd usb slot

good then ive been using the better of the two

I havent tried looking for new roms for longest times, at least 3-4 years and most of the sites i used to go to seem to have died, so what are the good places to look for now?
