All this constant drama about Savior... He must literally be the most legendary, loved, despised figure in esports history.

I'm a huge Savior fan, and from how the CJ coach was confused about how Savior couldn't perform on stage even if his skills were good in practice, Savior probably actually was better than his last televised games would suggest.

But banning Savior from professional games was the sensible decision, nor is their stance unjust. To say that Savior should be let in even after being one of the main players in the scandal is pretty ridiculous.

I disagree. The guy didn't murder anyone or rape anyone. From what I understand he went to prison? He served his time, I think he should be given a second chance.

He doesn't deserve to play professional brood war ever again but the disinformation spread is rather annoying. The closest thing to proof of Savior throwing games was Hwasin's testimony were apparently savior said something along the lines of "if I do it you should do it too" in a bnet message.

Even if they unbanned him, no team would want him. Also he's probably not even good enough any more; at the end of his career he was on a 7 game losing streak and he's only gotten worse since then while everyone else has been improving AND he's pretty old now.

But how many of those were thrown :o

haha, good point

wasn't there that game where he 9pooled vs a 14cc and then the camera cut to his face and he was all "shit shit, that wasn't supposed to happen". against upmagic iirc? maybe i am not getting it right

regardless, i don't have much sympathy for him

Savior did not go to prison. I really disagree with how Kespa, OGN, and MBC all tried to erase Savior's legacy like some kind of attempted Stalinist collective amnesia, and also with how a lot of posters on TL think Savior doesn't even deserve to be mentioned again when it's basically impossible to speak about modern BW without mentioning Savior in one way or another. You can speak of Savior the Zerg player without having to speak of Savior the match fixer.

But in the same way, you can talk about Savior the match fixer without talking about Savior the Zerg maestro, and such a person shouldn't be let into professional games anymore. He was a part of the problem that let to the complete crumbling of an entire team. That is some serious shit, and Savior shouldn't be given any leniency for what he did just because he was one of the most important players in the history of the game. He shouldn't be let into professional BW again.

He got sentenced a prison term but it was on probation, so he didn't actually go to prison and he never will if he sits quiet and lives a clean life during his probation. If Savior went to prison for the term that was given, then we wouldn't have been hearing about Savior streaming games within a year of the whole scandal.

His sentence was reduced, I believe, and he never had to go. Something like community service and I fine, I presume.

Yup, and imo this is example of stubborn asian honor/tradition based system being bad for e-sports. in the western sphere savior would be such a celebrity, a bad boy that women would drool over, commentators would have so much to talk about him as well as the yellow magazines. and he would be still be allowed to take part in games
Aah thats the stuff..

Yeah, heaven forbid that a professional organization and culture would try to retain competitive and ethical integrity.

In the western sphere he'd be nothing but a geek playing video games.

Completely disagree, I think he'd be banned if such was the case. In the U.S., we had a World Series that was fixed, and everyone that even knew about the fix was banned, even if they didn't participate themselves.

I disagree. Scandal is one thing, but regardless of the culture, gambling on a sporting event you're involved in is the worst of sins. Remember the Black Sox ordeal? Some of the most talented players in the game, barred for life because of a gambling scandal.

Michael Vick is still playing, but Pete Rose will never be in the hall of fame because of gambling. NBA players get accused of sexual misconduct all the time, but when referees' integrity is called into question with fixing games, they're never seen again.

It's just a different level. Savior was a god of a BW player, but I don't think he should ever come back.

everyone deserves another chance.. if athletes like marion jones can why savior wouldn't? he didn't win any games because of cheating, he lost them coz of cheating.

i think that 2-3 years ban from e-sports, lifetimeban from BW and returning the money would be enough.. if he repeat it -> prison
