We need a universal thread that discusses Athene and his feats in Starcraft 2. Admins were closing threads left and right whenever they saw the name "Athene" pop up, telling the people who made the threads to remake them when Athene actually did something noteworthy in Starcraft 2. The time however, has come. Athene really has done something extraordinary in the past few days. On his way to rank #1 in the world, so far his stats are 49-1, getting matched against people like qxc, strelok, happy, servyoa, basically all top master league players, murdering everyone in his way. And it is not so strange that he is able to do it, he plays INSANELY good, it is actually quite amazing how good this guy is, easily comparable to the best Starcraft 2 players in the world, if not already better. Don't believe me? Watch the replays that are attached to the bottom of this thread.
As an introduction to this thing if you are not familiar with it, watch this livestream recording of Chiren, aka Athene. He announces his goals in Starcraft 2 which include getting ranked #1 in the world within a month, beating IdrA on livestream, as well as challenging both Husky and HDStarcraft to a 1v1 where the loser has to beg his subscribers to subscribe to the other guys channel.
I am not going to go into too much detail about what has been going on, since the video pretty much covers most of the stuff. I do however, want to share some replays I have found of him to kill all the controversy surrounding Athene and his playstyle. People were saying he was cheating, people were saying he had perfected some kind of ultimate cheese. This is not the case, as you can see for yourself.
Dont forget however, this is just the beginning, in the next couple of weeks, he will be continuing his journey to become the #1 player in the world, and this thread will be the place to discuss that journey.

Abusing a new account to get mass wins is not hard, it's just abusing MMR.

How is he abusing to get mass wins? For the last probably 15 or 20 games or whatever he has been playing the very best players searching. His stats are very impressive.
This guy is known to be a troll / cheater / abuser.
In my humble opinion he is just a loser craving for attention but if his little projects make him happy, then more power to him.
But more importantly, seeing his name appear on TL makes me feel uneasy, as if the forum suddenly grew a tumor. The less we talk about guys like him, the better.

Because he is starting from 0. So of those 50 games, maybe 10 or so are against top players.

Has he played in any big tournaments? Why haven't I heard of him until now? If he's as good as you say, I would love to see him compete for money and not just for glory or whatever it is he's going on about.
So, i'm not familiar with this player - but does this player have any major tournament wins? Does he have any tournament wins? Did he try to qualify for any tournaments?
It's hard to consider a person the best protoss in the world until they prove themselves in the tournament realm, so enlighten me on his accomplishments please.
If he's good, he'll win something--its as simple as that.
Personally, I think if someone's aspiring to be the best player in the world, they're going to have to go to Korea. You can't lay claim to being the best protoss in the world without having ever faced your closest contenders.
The only way I would believe it's him is if he had actually been playing SC2 for some time now and he bought another account to get more attention. If you look like you dominate the game in less than a week it's much more impressive than simply being in master league after stomping your way through plat and diamond.
I assume it is someone else playing for him, but nevertheless 43-1, 46-1, 49-1... whatever it is... is quite impressive. The only thing is, it will get much harder to keep such a good record in masters.
On a related note, you can hate on him all you want or call BS, but I think this is some good entertainment. He knows how to start interesting controversy and now I want to follow up to hear the story.
If any top player bought a new copy of SC2, wouldn't they go 50-0?

And best protoss in the world is quite an impressive qualifier. Let's see some tourney wins yo. That's the only thing that counts.
so many people here getting trolled by this guy. Calm down, athene is nothing but an entertainer and some of us actually like his stuff. If you don't, just stay away from him, no need to jump on the Athene bashing bandwagon.
On a more positive note, I wish him best of luck and hopefully he can start putting out interesting videos like he used to back in the day.
This person has the sickest discipline, he was not impressive in poker because of his skill (which was nothing to write home about) but because of the insane hours he put into it. If he truly puts that time into SC2 there's no doubt he is going to be one of the best.

I guess people around here don't know that. If you aren't familiar with the WoW scene, "Athene" is just a character. Chiren (his real name) came up with Athene as a publicity stunt to gain popularity for his assorted endeavors. Even though he's acting the character of Athene, he is an incredible gamer and has un-matched dedication. Im guessing he's been playing SC2 for awhile now on a smurf account and was/is already masters.
Nevertheless, he can become one of the best if he wants to.
You guys take him way too seriously lol. When Chiren makes Athene videos, it's an act. If you've seen his older videos, he does this because it's funny to see how many people think he's being serious and get mad over it. Can he beat MVP, IdrA, MC? No. Is he any good at sc2? He's probably decent. People seem to forget that he actually was really good at WoW arena and is a good gamer, he's just an even better troll :D
