Let me preface this by saying that this is what I want to happen - Movie advancing - and this is the only way I see it happening. If Jaedong beats Leta, then Movie will get steamrolled too. You do not beat Jaedong twice.

I think that Movie's 61% ratio verse Zerg shouldn't be taken into consideration since the winning ratio tends to flatten out after a total number of games increases

I predict Nada to struggle here. Leta is a strong player, and could easily upset Jaedong, who has recently beaten Flash on a different map. Some good games ahead for sure.

Nada setting up his CC again, but the Protoss Macro Machine is running strong now. Vultures killing the damaged ARchives, preventing templars for a few seconds.
ANother huge Protoss army setting up in front of the natural. Nada has about 12 tanks and some vultures. Horang2 charges again. Zealots evaporate. Good defensive position so far. Many Protoss dead, but time is in favor of him.

Horangs done everything he possibly could to get behind yet he somehow is so ahead he can add 15+ gateways and arbiters, leading to constant a-moving...
My analysis: Nada played too defensively, never taking a position on the map. That allowed Horang2 to take five bases. (Nada probably off-balance from the WTF opening, and assumed Horang2 would be way behind if he just defended successfully. But tearing down manner pylons/gateways costs just as much as putting them up...)
I think nada made a huge mistake not going for a timing push with gols in response to the dt drop tech into 3 base. I'm not a progamer but I did have the advantage of seeing the timing on everything and the entire map The starport wasn't effective enough to make it worth it.
And I wish people would stop overrating horang2. Sad to say but Nada is hardly a top tier opponent anymore. Horang2 is not "amazing"
Also nada's setup/unit positioning was just flat out bad when Horang2 moved in.
I hope we get to see horang2 vs Fantasy soon so people can shut up about him. Hint: Horang2 would get raped really bad.

Toss didn't waste lots of minerals at the start. Toss spent minerals building shit, Terran lost minerals tearing it down. And toss used that time to get ahead in tech.
when Horang2 attacked, NaDa had a total of 9 vultures with 4 sitting at his 3rd base command center. Did the obs miss him lose a whole control group or something randomly?

no offense, but nada had to do something majorly wrong this game. if a player, regardless which race he plays, wastes so much money in the early game, he either has to make a flash-esque comeback to win or he simply loses the game. i haven't seen the game, just read the lr so it's hard to make statements for me. but to me it seems that nada was either too passive or something else in his play lacked big time.

That is one of the worst games I've ever seen of NaDa. When Horang rolled in I was seriously expecting a huge metal army and what's there is a paltry little group of tanks. That was mind-boggling. I'm honestly stunned. I've been pretty upset at times when NaDa has lost but never utterly disappointed. NaDa even looked depressed before the game had started. Bah T_T.

Scouting marine stops at the main base, so no discovery yet. Mine placed at the natural, so Horang2 cannot expand there. Marine heads to the LEFT which is the wrong direction.- He has one more try though. Up adding turrets to his main base.
Observer out, Horang2 might expand now. Does so. Up sending his first push out, some VUlt / Tank. GOon micro pretty good, takes out most vultures. Tanks protected by mines though.
Goons plow through the entire push it seems. Horangee carefully avoids the mines. SOme vulture slips through and enters the main base.

Upmagic going for some dropship play, sending it out over the top route. He has two of the min only expansions running now. Horang2 with 7 gates now, adding more and upgrading. Drop about to enter his main base! One cannon there!
Tank and 2 Vultures do some damage. I think I also saw a mine explosion? Anyway, more Gates for Cheesemacrotoss. He also took the base at 7 towards the middle.
Horang2 losing units left and right due to that cliff drop. First time I see that exploited. Up taking dual gas top left. Shuttle coming in to combat the drop, but gets taken down by Goliaths. Single arbiter also there to combat, but gets taken down almost. Drop reinforced and mroe lowground goons die. FORGE also killed. Horang2 in trouble.
Funny is that if Reach or Ra did this there would be 10 pages about how great they are. Truth is that it wasn't Horang2's gayness it wasn't protoss imbaness it was just Nada playing extremely bad.
Upmagic now extending his line to in front of the natural. Horang2 hardly with units left to combat this. Some zeals run into mines. The 7 expansion under siege. Up taking yet ANOTHER dual gas base.

HUGE stasis on the drop, I think some werent even unloaded. VUltures heading for that bottom base. Only zealots and arbiter there to defend. UP expanding at the empty minerals where the sneak expansion was.

With a 44% TvP. Horang2 is not so much a 'creative' player as he is a player that goes DT in 90% of his PvTs. The only 'cool' thing he even did was the double core IMO.

Besides wasting that early push, I don't see much fault in Upmagic's play. He perfectly exploited the cliff there and outplayed Horang2 in the long run.

I think the hidden expo actually put him behind because on that map you can just put fairly safe expo in the back of your base and also you can transfer probes there, while that hiiden expo took so long to start working properly that I think it put him behid. in my opinion for a hidden expo to work for a protoss he should place it the same time with another natural expo and hope that it wont be discovered, while the way horang did was like normal expo without probe trasnfer

wrong, hidden expo was way better, one in the back of your base would get owned by either vult or tank drop. its always better if your opponent doesn't know that you have exp running

as far as this goes, i do have to give credit where it's due. horang2's cheese have a lot of thought put into them, he actively tries to fool you rather than going for the 'please please please dont scout me' cheeses that someone like lucifer relies on (or stork when hes playing bad LlOlOlOlOL)

This was pretty much the game of the two most creative players around who aren't monsters to back it up. It was really amusing to see all the crap they pulled, even if their mechanics aren't up to snuff.

Except with proper follow up you can safely expand against any possible build. Its just how much you defend afterwards before adding facts. Horang2's build worked perfectly as far as this is concerned. Upmagic made extra turrets + an earlier than normal acad. Horang2 was also able to take the 2nd and 3rd nat as he normally would.
But then, after that, when it came down to actually playing well, horang2 failed miserably.
Apparently he never played a pvt on Lost Temple or hed know how to handle cliff drops
This is actually one of the sets I can think of where Jaedong has an excellent practice partner for. Lomo is great at 2 port and a well prepared Jaedong is hard to beat. Let's see if Leta's up to task.

They should let Flash and Leta play as a team. Leta could play the first 5 minutes and then Flash could tap in, then Terrans could stop sucking for a while.

Leta plays TvZ like he's a zerg -- and he does so amazingly against zergs because most zergs are kinda mediocre to bad at ZvZ. Jaedong, on the other hand, has the best air micro of anyone ever, so this just isn't a good match up for Leta.

jaedong will eat him alive... i don't think movie can do anything against him. heartbreak ridge was a good map for his weird mass dragoon strat. but on byzantium he's basically forced to play straight up or do some kind of proxy shit. but jaedong is prepared. movie is going to get raped big time.

In the beginning of the game Leta always got an extra hit in against the mutalisks, often 1 vs 0 shots on a exchange. In the end though, Jaedong's unchallenged early third while Leta was still on one base, and other parts of Jaedong's play, was unstoppable.
A real noteworthy thing that game is that jaedong's build was specially designed to counter Leta's. He had incredibly quick mutas AND overlord speed. On top of that he kept all his overlords clumped together round the main so a few hydras could defend the ovies AND the drones.

Leta had no time at all to pick off drones, and when he finally did at Jaedong's 4th, his whole mnm/mm group got eaten alive by mutas, and he was forced to go back to his nat with wraiths. Amazing play by JD

He uses that time to saturate his 3 bases and transition from there based on what the early mutas scout. He can also use this time to scourge sairs
Jaedong holding off the first attack was huge since he already had started his 4th. Now he'll have a great economy before Movie can make a solid attack again.
Still no den for Jaedong. I'd like to know wtf hes doing. his 4th gas is going up soon though. He's still sticking to the bare minimum to defend. Movie goes for another push.

This build that jaedong used is actually fairly common at high levels of iccup where the 3rd gas is difficult to reach for P. Its hard to execute though.

Wow, Jaedong's timing is so sick. I was getting nervous when he kept droning up and producing like no army while Movie was getting his first timing attack ready, but when it came he had just produced just enough units to hold it off. Then he held off the next timing attack and the next. Then he destroyed all of Movie's expos.

Jaedong had really nice targeting with his sunks on archons too.
That's key when doing muta/ling builds. Whenever P commits you have to immediately target the archons to soften them up so you can one shot them with your muta group.

Wow what an incredible game. That was so very close at points. Epic defence by JD to hold his natural against so many Zealots with NO lurkers. Movie played so well too. Knowing that against JDs mutas his templars would simply die, the Archons were a clever move. He came so close to pulling it off.

dont get this pointless fanboish thing started again, you used the "oh the skill gap between bisu and jaedong is so small, he is not that dominant" argument in the beginning of the year, when bisu played double the games Jaedong did. Besides I think Jaedong is peaking very early in the leagues, it will be very hard to keep this form till the finals, and I wont be surprised if he drops out of both leagues out of nowhere. But if there is guy who can be so dominant for such a long period of time it must be Jaedong, so who knows...maybe he will rape his way to another 2 SLs
Btw purple cow, the reason you 2 hatch lair is to get the scourge out earlier. This will cause p to not only pump sairs, but also to cannon their min lines BEFORE they can add any gates. This lets you get a very safe third which you can then fill with drones before P can even move out due to your spire timing. Then you can set up sunks.
With 3 hatch spire timing(which is still totally viable, not saying it isnt a good build) P can mass up enough sairs to only need 1 cannon at each min line (just enough to block scourge) and YOULL be the one trying to defend your ovies on time. P can also get 2 or 3 more gates before they need to build min line cannons.

Movie played an absolutely stellar game and it is an absolute shame he got placed in easily the most difficult group. Not only did he take an inspiring game against Jaedong early on, but he played so ridiculously well in the games he lost that I can't believe CJ won't run this guy in the PL finals.
It is an amazing accomplishment to beat Jaeddong -- it is an amazing accomplishment to beat Jaedong 3 times, but I feel bad for the guy for having to be put up against Jaedong so many times in such a short time frame. Movie should've been in the Ro16, but the best players made it out of the group, so I guess there isn't too much to complain about.
Guys like Movie, Violet and Backho sometimes make me wonder why the Dragons are thought so highly of, honestly.

I like how the experts give their point here . Jaedong was on 4 base 6 hat or even more at the end . If you let Jaedong macro up and get to ulta defiler more safely how are you gonna brake him wih your "big army " ? Not to mention that if Movie let Jaedong breathe he would have been muta harrased to death .
Anyways, today was a great line up of games including the showmatch, definetly reccomend all of them, unlike yesterday -__-. All the leagues are shaping up to be awesome

uh actually he managed to kill drones on almost all ocasions not to mention plenty of units and ovies.
each wave left the nat with no units and no defense, just 2 hatches and an extractor.
on one of the latter waves movie managed to take out drones in jd's main 4+ if i recall correctly

it's like forcing federer to play from the ground line, serving his forehand. it doesn't put you in an advantage, you shift the game into the most comfortable position for your opponent.
Regardless of which Zerg he plays, Leta's best TvZ build (and on Outsider especially) is the 2port wraith into bio. It's not a matter of who he's serving to, it's a matter of what his best serve is.
Jaedong leading evo by 45 points now, absolutely crazy. But his schedule has lightened up now so I expect other people who need to play more games will catch up soon.

Dude, how often do you see zerg NOT go for mutas in TvZ? It's basically the standard against terran... Plus Leta's wraith build has beaten a lot of zergs, the map is zerg-favoured, so why not try it? Jaedong just has godly muta micro tho

Leta's 2port wraith build had never failed him before, the only question was whether Jaedong would be able to beat it. To beat it you basically have to never make a mistake (especially early on), or you're fucked; in most games where Leta does the build, there's one moment I can point to and say the zerg player lost right there because he made a mistake.
Jaedong showed that he was capable of not making a mistake, and he made it look easy. Jaedong's micro is also way better than every other zerg. Leta might still be able to use this build effectively against Jaedong but he needs 1) For it to be a bit less obvious that he's going to be doing it ahead of time. 2) To be more aggressive with his wraiths. Jaedong doesn't make mistakes very often, but he definitely is not going to make a mistake unless Leta pressures him.

Did you see how much effort JD made into taking out those initial scvs? And his initial vultures COULDN'T do any damage as sunken was placed very early in the game
JD did make early hydras, if you watch the game, when Leta's first wraith arrives, the first hydra pops out in time. And he did make multiple sunkens (up to 3) but we all know how greedy JD is with sunks, he rather have units + less sunks than sunks. I'm sure Leta didn't fail to notice JD's hidden expansion, he was scouting with wraiths all the time, he just couldn't do anything about it
You make it sound like Leta's own mistakes cost him the game, which is definately not true. Jaedong took measurements against Leta's actions and Leta was in a position where he couldn't do anything to prevent his loss

Wraiths have longer range than Mutas. Still JD killed almost as many wraiths as Leta killed mutas.

Jaedong's combat of Leta's wraiths was infinitely better than most Zergs Leta faces, because most zergs can't protect their overlords the way Jaedong did, nor can they pick as many wraiths or force Leta to be defensive the same way. There were points where Leta could chase down and hurt the Muta count similarly to how he does in other games, but that's the benefit of wraith range. Jaedong forced Leta to be defensive with his first control group, something every other zerg who faces Leta's two port seems to never come close to. Jaedong is decidedly good against 2port because it plays like ZvZ, but the opponent's mutas trade production ability and health for range, cloak and cost, more or less. Jaedong's micro and overall management (not macroing, but controlling the fight's positions, etc) was S-Class, start to finish.
Leta also played an absolutely wonderful game. I honestly don't think anyone can execute 2port that good, and it's one of his facets that separates him from the other 2 S-Class terrans. It's a discredit to both Jaedong and Leta to simplify it to just the economy Jaedong had set up quickly.
It's a real shame Movie and Leta couldn't qualify because they had to go up to the monsters Jaedong and Fantasy. This tournament would've been much more interesting with such great players in it.

9 Points away from breaking his ELO peak and 18 from Bisu's. Very possible with upcoming matches against stork/possible khan ace, light + possible mbc ace, and yarnc. The games wouldn't be huge upsets if he lost but let's face it, JD is the undisputed favorite against anyone not named Bisu.
Just finished watching the game between Jaedong and Movie, did anyone notice movie's archon was attacking hatchery instead of sunken together with zealots in the first wave of attack he made? I believe he could've dealt a much bigger damage to Jaedong if he micro'ed the archon properly

How would you even decide who is the favorite in that matchup? Bisu won in their meeting but Jaedong is scarier. It's less that Bisu's the favorite and more that Bisu is the only player who Jaedong could lose against in a straight up game without it being a massive upset.
Interestingly, I like how Jaedong and Bisu both came back from a losers game to stomp both competitors, one of which who beat them, in demanding fashion. Testament to their will and talent.
Jaedong's games were both a boon and a bane. Right now, his is borderline on showing a dangerous addiction to mutas. Out of the 8 games he's played this last week, the only one where he didn't use mutas to great effect was vs Much (not sure) and Modesty. However, it's much better than when he used Mutas during his "slump". He can still win even when his opponents go for hard-counters, though it makes the games really close.

Yeah. I also noticed it. He definitely could have dealt much more damage with his first attack. He basically wasted one archon there without using it at all.

agree cant see anyone else flash was once but his tvz became pretty crappy he needs to work on his new build or get back to mnm cant see why jaedong wont take msl osl and gom unless all those matches will occur very close to each other i'd say he is even favorite

I really hope that Jaedong is able to advance though, because if he beats flash he'll be in a great spot to qualify for Blizzcon. I'd really love to see Jaedong FINALLY at a Blizzcon, he really deserves it. Especially since its a TON of money on the line.

Flash needs to stop fucking noob stomping. We bitch about how shitty his TvZ is (ironic because of his 63% TvZ haha) and constantly losing to top players proves he got too used to noob stomping that MU.
Flash needs to start going bio. I don't care about his 'new build' let the other terrans master that.

I agree so much. I don't know where along the way Flash started feeling like he wouldn't be able to keep up with players like Jaedong/YarnC by playing bio but I don't see any reason to think so, and this biomech build just produces some ugly, ugly games.
I really want to hope he'll rape this MSL, but it's just getting really hard to picture him as a contender against any decent zerg player right now.

You do realize that movie is 3-2 in his favor lifetime against Jd and is sporting a 61% winning ratio pvz and that leta is 70% against zerg.
movie's pvz dropped to 57% as for leta u are right his tvz is amz but jaedong % of al matchups are so high after more than 100 games in each mu
