If game 2 hadn't been so one-sided the reaction probably would have felt more like "Savior scout hax, perfect build, vintage Maestro mind games" but man, game 2 makes it really hard to feel that way. True that, it's like savior didn't deserve his win.

I agree with that, I simply thought that labeling the 9pool as luck makes it appear that he did just flip a coin when this could have been a calculated gamble. I'd say it was a calculated gamble from up. It was a 33% chance that savior would scout his build, providing that he would send his OL in the direction of an expansion. He probably also thought there was a possibility that he wouldn't 9pool. But, savior got the position up least wanted, with the build most dangerous for him. Up lost his gamble due to poor luck, and savior got a boring win based on his buildorder.

It has the potential to be mind blowing. Luxury keeps saying in interviews that he is really working on his lategame management play.

Didn't he go 14cc in the last game too? I didn't get to watch it, but I think I read so from a LR. I don't know why he would try to 14cc, though... 9pool seemed pretty likely. If it was against someone like GGPlay who always 12hatches, I'd understand and accept it, but vs savior it seems... silly. I'm pretty disappointed, but at least savior advances. ^_^ I think Up's reasoning went like this: People tend to play standard in the last match. They tend to go for the most reasonable builds and hope that they will outplay their opponent. Now Savior's most comfortable build has historically been 12 hatch->3 hatch muta. It wasn't stupid for Up to expect this kind of play out of Savior. Thus he wanted to eek out an advantage with 14CC, especially since it was a big 4-player map. Savior's mentality was different. By playing 9pool, he was able to be safe and also control the pace of the game. Knowing that Up would expect a 12 hatch, he also hoped to be facing a super greedy build. 9pool wasn't even a gamble for MJY. It was a smart way of either getting an easy win or a low-risk opening.
