I'm really looking forward to UpMagic vs Flash. Hopefully Up can produce something fun and bring Flash down in TvT again.

Even though Flash hasn't practiced he SHOULD win ... but UpMagiC is doing better recently so it could go either way ... Flash needs to win ... can't afford to drop more after the stupid MSL in Liquibet

Yarnc's ZvZ is pretty garbage, only really shines in ZvT.
Fantasy better win. His opponent is Tester. Tester...
Can't go wrong with Flash in any matchup. UpMagic has shown signs of great play, but it's Flash we're talking about.
Kal PvZ really good. GGPlay needs to stop sucking.

It's funny...Yarnc has the reputation for great muta micro and it seems most are picking him over July...yet Yarnc has 48% ZvZ and July 56%. Not a huge difference, but certainly not in Yarnc's favor.
I suppose it could be because July has lost ZvZ to some bad players in the last couple months.
(Their career record against each other 3-3.)

Yarnc has been fucking EXCELLENT in ALL MUs as of late. He is defiantly the favorite over July (anyone saying Yarnc doesn't have good ZvZ just watch his game vs JD from a bit ago). That said, July is way cooler than Yarnc so I hope he wins.

My reason for predicting that he'll win is purely because he's been tearing shit up lately with all-kills and such against decent players too, I recall he beat FlaSh quite convincingly not too long ago with some sick muta micro.
In fairness I haven't seen any of July's recent games and I'm not 100% what his recent results and form have been so I wouldn't be at all surprised if he turned up and gave FakeYellow the raping of his life.

Yarnc > July
Both Park bros have been on fire lately, and yarnc's always had amazing muta control. Sure he lost to savior, but hey, it's '09, everyone will. July just hasn't shown enough zvz skill lately for me to give this to him (he lost to s2 last november, and has only won two games since).
Fantasy > Tester
I really don't like either of these players. But i don't think that anyone will admit that tester is anywhere close to the quality of any other player in the osl, and especially not fantasy.
Flash > Upmagic
I think Up has a chance here if he plays creatively, but he just can't handle flash in a standard game. If this goes past 15 min (sigh....tvt....) then Up has no chance
Kal > GGPlay
This match sucks. Kal has been terrible lately, and GGPlay has never been great zvp. He's definitely not in top form now anyway. I'm only giving this to Kal because he used to be one of the best pvz players. Hopefully the Kal from GomTV msl s4 shows up. Otherwise this will be a boring match between two bad players.

And yarnc's ZvZ hasn't looked too good lately. Wins only vs hero and saint with losses to the likes of ggplay and 815(wtf?). July's record has been a lot worse but... I'd still love it if he managed to win.

July and YellOw[ArnC] have both been playing excellently to be fair. July went on a bad zvz losing streak but at least won his last two. Id' say given July is a champ though you have to favor him over YellOw[ArnC]. I mean July is ripping it up in proleague/winners league where he supposedly underperforms, do you really expect him to let down in his favorite tourney?
Other matches I think are pretty obvious who will win, but hoping to see some cheese/creative builds from Flash or Upmagic.

Tester has surprised me at times and i personally dont believe at all in fantasys tvp, if it was tvt against a player of testers calibur i would go with fantasy.

Yarnc > July. 50/50 game, could go either way. I'm picking Yarnc due to my coin coming up heads.
fantasy > Tester. Easiest pick of the night. I didn't even know Tester qualified till the group selection the other night. Tester is out of his depth.
Up > Flash. Up is showing good form atm and is a tricky player. His mech play is very sound and I think his style will be a good counter for flash's strong, yet predictable style.
GGplay > Kal. GGplay is a hohum player who seems to save his best for OSLs. Neither player is really inspiring me right now so I'll give GGplay the slight edge.
TvT doesn't do it for me, but I think Up vs Flash will provide the highlight of the night.

Yarnc > July- It's a ZvZ so its a virtual coin-toss. However, July has lost 7 of his last 10 ZvZ's. I'm taking Yarnc in this one as a result.
Fantasy > Tester- Odds are, Tester is not going to win this match. All I'm saying.
Upmagic < Flash- Flash's TvT is just amazing, I don't really think upmagic can take him in a standard match, upmagic needs to be creative to even have a shot.
GGplay > Kal- Coin toss take your pick. Both are relatively inconsistent in some ways (Kal lost to Huck, HUCK.) and GGplay hasn't been overwhelming at all.

I don't know why people are naysaying this. I think these are going to be great games. Whenever I watch players who aren't as "dominant" I'm usually pleasantly surprised by the games.

Well the only other option is to use WMP, but it usually takes me anywhere from 5-20 restarts to get VLC working, Maybe your just really unlucky =P

That always happens to me with vlc unless the stream is really good. You should use an alternative media player, WMP works a lot better for me.

I wasn't paying close enough attention during early game but it did find yellow's base with his overlord really late so maybe he was in the dark and the 6 lings may have seemed early to him? and he was obviously afraid of more coming

July had 28, yarnc like 36 supply at the start of the battle. The outcome shouldn't be that surprising.. I'm fairly certain yarnc had more drones because july made so many lings that Yarnc ended up killing, plus the sunken as well. Also, yarnc had 2 mutas left after killing the initial 6 scourge.

I think I liquidbetted close to the opposite of that... the only match I care about here is GGPlay vs Kal.

He truly is. It's amazing to see how elegantly and accurately he positions his goons inches behind tank range to stall the push to maximum effect. And the use of the reaver to take out turrets and tank leapfrogging forward is hardly anything new, but it's so beautiful to see it pulled off between macro rounds.

I think the best outcome is for Tester to be super manner and concede the game to Fantasy. Honestly, there was almost no chance he was going to win this, with those 8 goons or without.

to be fair fantasy was definitely ahead but tester was doing such a fantastic job of delaying the push for so long and he had a nice army composition, now adding zealots (probably speed soon).
all it takes is the terran to do one bad push or the toss to flank with good timing, and you can't argue that 7-8 goons would not matter in a situation like that...

I don't know. I don't agree though. UpMagiC can be surprising. I refer back to when he played Hwasin in a bo3 series for a league awhile ago, and he was down 1 and the next week he surprised everyone with magnificent macro and superb dropship timing. He won 2-1.

Upmagic moving forward with about 9 tanks, Flash seems to have 4... where's Flash's units? He's reinforcing with 4 vultures but upmaic still seems to have way more. Flash has 4 factories right now. Upmagic with like 12 tanks and some wraiths, Flash has... way less. WTF? Show his nat already.

Damm, Up is simply outplaying Flash.

Upmagic's third CC is already up and Flash is trying to harrass with some vuls, failing. Flash has a weird hidden starport above his nat. Upmagic's tanks are positioned bad and Flash manages to kill 2 of them. Upmagic moving forward against Flash but his tanks aren't optimally positioned once again. Now he's harrassing some of Flash's tanks with wraiths, kills one but loses 1 wraith to a goliath. O_o

Upmagic chasing flash's dropship with a wraith, kills it before losing it to a goliath. Upmagic saves his 4th cc that's in middle left. Flash has finally gotten some units but Upmagic seems to have better map.. precense?`Flash sneaks 4 vultures behind up's third but wraiths catch them and start to slowly kill them. Tanks come to assist. Upmagic seems to be ahead, although Flash is getting his fourth... and now up loses some tanks to Flash. and most of his wraiths as well. He seems o have a lot of tanks, but they're spread accross the map...

Flash is moving towards 9 but upmagic seems to have way better positioning and more tanks. Flash's tanks melt. I can't see the upgrades because of the stream but I don't think either player has +2. Upmagic has at least 4 cc's up, I think flash has 4 too but up's 5th is almost done. Upmagic seems to have about 65% of the map.

Flash with a nice air fleet of valks and BC's but up still has 2 more gas and has like 50 thousand turrets. Upmagic with wraiths... about 5 die in about 2 seconds. He should switch to BCs. Wraiths don't do anything vs BC/Valk. Flash attacking upmagic's 9 but up has a crapton of turrets there. Flash with 3 BC and 4 valkyries it seems. Upmagic is getting BCs out of many ports. Flash might be able to take 9 out.

Upmagic has some BCs right now but flash seems to have more. Upmagic with like..... 8 port BCs coming? Insane. Flash has more BCs now but I think up is gonna catch up soon. Up is massing a lot of turrets and has a way bigger ground force than Flash does. They're at even spply but Upmagic has 1 more mining base and like 3k mins 2k gas saved up. Upmagic is apparently still mining from 9's gas. coming with BCs now but flash does nice yamatoes. I think flash is able to kill the BC's of upmagic. Yeah, up runs with one. Flash has 4 valks and about 7 bcs. It seems like up has too much supply in tanks. He's gonna lose about 7 of them now to Flash, though.

Upmagic with 120 supply vs flash's 150 now. The mass wraiths, what was that? Sigh, so annoying. Flash's air fleet in up's main now. Upmagic has at least one of the min onlies in the middle. Upmagic might still be able to win the economic fight. He's massing wraiths now since Flash doesnt have many valkyries anymore.

Upmagic seems to have 30 more supply than flash, flash is running low on minerals. Flash is attempting to break the center now but I dont know if he can battle upmagic's 10+ BC's. I think there's gonna be a big yamato war soon, up should have enough yamatoes for every one of flash's bcs. Upmagic sneaks some vults in and kills some of flash's scvs. Nice harrass by upmagic. Killed almost 10 scvs by now, vults still in main. Flash has a vessel and emps, seemed to miss all but one bc.

I learned ae for ㅐ and e for ㅔ. So it would follow Jaedong should be Jedong that way. I thought that was the norm, but I do see all sorts of weird romanizations. You are definitely more familiar too!

Man, UpMagiC had outstanding play that game. The fact that he was able to secure 9 o'clock before taking 7, and while denying Flash 3 o'clock gave him a huge advantage. He was 2 bases ahead of Flash until the BCs came into play. The big mistake UpMagiC made was massing wraiths to counter the initial BCs, which basically got massacred by the valks, and by that time, Flash's BC count was too high to catch up to. The better route would've been to simply mass BCs until 200 supply.

Uhh no, Flash destroyed those starports at bottom map, turrets were destroyed too. It was the ground army that raided his main which forced him to retreat.

if i remember correctly there were 2(?) different times that flash had a crapload of bcs raping everything in upmagic's base. the first time it happened is what i described, i think the 2nd time is when he started killing off all of flash's stuff around the rest of the map.

Exactly. Flash was mined out at this point when upmagic was still mining. The 9 o clock base started mining far sooner than the 3 o clock base as well, Flash didn't get much out of that.

The observer probably did that on purpose for the "shock" factor. Its much more entertaining to have a huge goliath army revealed all at once than to know its comming for sure the whole time.

Well, I personally preferred to see what's happening. But I guess this isn't the first time it happens. It's just annoying to "think" one thing, but if you can look at the whole picture it's a different thing.

Nah, I watched the game and actually saw that he had two more bases, eventhough at the time Flash walked over him in his main, Flash had taken the 10o´clock. And by the time this happened they were pretty equal on supply, eventhough flashed lagged behind economically. Maybe he shouldn´t have retreated. Now he did and lost (he might have lost otherwise anyway).

Games were great, i didnt comment it, upmagic played great, i only wish events were more separated, so players had more breathing room.

Exactly this. And he wouldn't get to "rest", he'd have to practice like 12 hours a day anyway. His first game in the msl group was vs Terrans as well.

even though flash took the 9/10 oclock base upmagic had been mining from there for a significant amount of time. he probably took ~1/2 of the resources there. also, supply count isn't the best thing to determine who is ahead. it's just a really really rough estimate. i mean really what it was is that by the end of the game upmagic had 1.5 bases more worth in resources.
but yes i thought upmagic lost 2 or 3 separate times in that game. so crazy, so back and forth.

there is no way to prevent this.
each league already has their date in which they plan to broadcast their groups. it depends more on the group selection ceremonies. flash just got bad luck this time around.

right i understand that, but what i'm saying is that it could possibly be due to the fact that hwasin's push came sooner than he predicted which caused him to make a bad decision. i don't think that in a "normal" situation best would have made such a poor decision.

I want somebody to make like a dragonball z gif where they are shooting energy balls and then screen out the parts where they show Upmagic and flash's faces sweating. That would be totally baller.

Upmagic wasnt sick, mostly huge advantage and money backed up.
Flash dropped a level of skill when he didnt take care of his BCs like 2 or 3 times.

Up almost blew that game in spectacular fashion (his advantage was enormous for the first half of the game - way more supply, more bases, and more money). But then Flash did blow the game in spectacular fashion.

Upmagic vs Flash was epic. You don't see that level of drama in games anymore, usually when a player gets an advantage at the pro level the game is pretty much decided, but that game went back and forth multiple times, and it seriously looked unwinnable for both players at certain points. Really good game

k I just watched the Up vs Flash game. Ridiculous shit! I don't get how Flash lost though. Was it cuz he was wasting his time killing Up's buildings and letting Up mass goliaths in the meantime. I thought his play towards the end like killing buildings, making Flash waste scans etc with wraiths was really smart.

When was Flash ever in the lead? Sure, his increidble yamatos ensured a longer stay. But upmagic had so much more saved up he managed to rebuilt both his factories and his goliaths while Flash was cleaning up his main.
BCs are the slowest unit in the game. And unlike carriers, you cannot use them as alone as an attack force.

Seriously that was one of the best games i've seen, action the whole time, no epic macro build up, and the tide turning so many times. Seriously after Flash uplifted Up's base i thought it was gg but no Up pulled it off and some how destroying Flash with a brilliant tech change.
