Well, NonY would indeed seem like the favourite, especially after impressively beating DinOt 2-0. NonY has great map-control, and especially against weaker opponents you see how effective his play is, where his strikes are always incisive, and he never seems to struggle. In the battles, he organizes himself very well, and seems very aware of how to hurt his opponent. His micro is quite good, he hasn't got amazingly quick reflexes, but microes quite smartly. While he has decent macro and multi-tasking, he sometimes seems to overlook strategic choices that his opponent might make and will end up a step behind. This only becomes clear when he faces stronger opponents, who don't let him control the game with his excellent map control, and take initiative themselves.
ClouD sometimes makes some terrible moves, where you find yourself grinding your teeth at how he could overlook perfect opportunities to hurt his opponent or sacrifice a largo group of units for no reason. In that sense, he seems like a bit of an anti-Mondragon, his game is quite unpolished, he hasn't get the best decision-making and he timing isn't great. Overall, his micro is pretty good and his macro is perhaps slightly better than that of NonY. He's likely to lose an equal fight against NonY, but he is a very special player, and one this he has going for him is that sometimes he makes some awesome macro moves that really throw his opponent off guards. He has pretty good multi-talking, but just seems like a clever player, who knows well how to estimate how to confuse or weaken him opponent by simultanous attacks and combines this well with his management of expansions. And this is where he could best beat NonY; weaken him with some lovely macro moves and build an advantage.
I'm personally in favour of ClouD because I always favour Russia, Italy and Germany in any kind of competition. I'm not sure which player is most interesting, because whereas NonY seems to have a very well-controlled and effective play, ClouD's play sometimes falls outside the box, which is quite inspiring. Both would be interesting to see in Korea. I think NonY would have a good chance of competing right away as no aspects of his game is really lacking, but possibly never move to a higher level, whereas ClouD might completely fall through if he doesn't manage to improve his micro and multitasking, or end up an Italian powerhouse in Korean if he does.

liek pmg when is finals????
|
weird that castro lost :o well gl
|
I think that no matter who wins finals, that they will most likely take Nony,DinOt, and maybe Handy? to Korea, and cloud if he wins finals.
|
yeah even if nony somehow loses, he will be taken. So long as he doesn't completely wig out because of the pressure. Even then, I think he'd get a spot.

Machine definitely has the willpower and determination. I think those factors are as or almost as important as the skill itself.

I find this kind of funny. The only two foreigners I really know of are in the finals... Nony and cloud.

To be honest, I really would like to go but if i was in tylers shoes and had beaten everyone and then not gotten to go I would be fairly angry. He did his job and after talking to him he 100% prepaired more for this tournament that anyone else no question. He deserves the spot and did everything nessisary to be picked, if a little factor like age keeps him from korea it will be dissapointing, I tried my best and failed. Cloud and Nony are better players than me 100% and I dont deserve to go based on just age imo, but if their is another tournament such as this you can bet that I once again will try my best to prove myself and have a shot at going to korea.

Artosis, can we get a rough timeline of when the finals will be aired? And what will happen afterwards? I'm dyin' over here!
Give us something

I think it should be NonY, Dynot, and someone else that I wont name I might be banned ^_^
|
KrAzYfoOL, you might be right. I'm certainly no expert, and although I've watched quite a few of their matches, it might only really show their form in that period of time. I'm soon finished watching the replay-pack of NonY in the TSL ladder, while I have watched fewer games of ClouD, perhaps half of them being a while ago, as he was more well-known when I entered the scene.
I think it's hard to get a general iimpression, though. Thought NonY might be "sharper" in that he's very aware of everything while playing, ClouD's play just seems more effective or experienced. I'm just throwing these things out there in hope to stir a little response, though. There's way too little discussion about the specifics on the players going on within these forums. The discussion of the Korean progamers has a little more life to it.
