The results of this group were pretty predictable. The only unpredictable match IMO was Luxury vs Sea on Athena. Poor Upmagic just had the bad luck of getting stuck in a group where he'd have Terran killers in both his games. | ||

But when the armies are so big defilers are a must. the point you're missing is that Luxury wouldn't have had enough defilers to properly defend AND attack, especially if he didn't research plague. Sea's army was MASSIVE, and split in several different places. He always had sufficient defense at his nat and his middle expansions, as well as a large army roaming around the map. With so many vessels (even though he lost a bunch, he had so much gas they were easy to replace), there is absolutely no way Luxury could have held off Sea's repeated attacks with defilers. Additionally, without Plague, Luxury wouldn't be able to do any significant damage to Sea either. It costs a Terran nothing but time to lift a command center and irradiate the defilers and ultralisks under the swarm. And while he's doing that, he can attack somewhere else because if Luxury is attacking he sure as fuck doesn't have gas for defensive defilers at home, because he'll need to replace the ultralisks he lost. Sea's aggressiveness against Luxury's expansions won him that game, and it was over before Defiler could or would become a factor. | ||

If he took that base to begin with, he's be at 4 gases and while in the long run, Sea probably woulda wittled him down, he woulda put up a better fight | ||
