Casy has the best record of any progamer vs Jaedong at 3 wins and 0 losses. Unfortunately for our Neo Emperor those wins were against the '06 and early '07 Jaedong and not the early '08 Jaedong. Many say the map favors Terran in TvZ because of the gasless natural. Nostalgia and 815 also had gasless nats, however, they were for player maps and had easy to hold gas expansions. This new map is wide open and no expansion is easy to hold especially against well controled mnm. Casy has the luxury of having the best controlled mnm in progaming so I wish Jaedong luck in securing a second gas. Despite the possible imalance, Jaedong is in top S-Class shape and we should have a close (and hopefully epic) game.
A gaselss nat does not affect the zerg much in ZvP. The proross however migh have trouble with a fast tech opening like sair/dt or sair/reaver (suck it Bisu). The matchup should be balanced so it should come down to who is the better player. As a matter of fact GGPlay is the better player and should have no problem steamrolling Backho
If Casy wins game one, he will face GGPlay in the winners set. Casy is 0-2 against GGPlay and I have a feeling he will loose for a 3'rd time if the game goes past 20 minutes. To win he needs to a) pacify muta harass and keep muta damage to a minimum and b) if GG is going lurkers to come in with a strong mid-game push and annihalate GGPlay with superior micro. If GGPlay is going straight ultra to push right when the first ultras make and annihalate the ultras with irradiate and d-matrix.
Jaedong will rape backho if he chooses to do so. If he has masochistic tendencies he can go for a retarded lurkerling allin or one base 2 gase muta harass and give his teammate a free win.
Final @ Troy Jaedong will face GGPlay in a matchup where he is 30-9. Jaedong's ZvZ is clutch and it is safe to say he will come out of the group second.
I think you underestimate Backho abit too much. He will definitly not be a walkover. I think he will advance together with Jaedong. Really a though group! Cant wait! May the best advance!

Maybe you didn't know this but Nostalgia was considered an incredibly well developed, very well balanced map in its day. Despite how this game has evolved, it hasn't changed so much that balance on Nos is destroyed. New school strats are gas demanding and don't work as well there.
The questions about balance on THIS map is not what it has in common with Nos, but what about it is different.
It's two player, so you automatically know your opponent's location. Will this extra cheese-ability have a pronounced effect? And what about the fact that all expansions appear to be either tank-able or flank-able? Etc, etc.
Really hoping Casy can make it. I really want to see some older progaming legends come back to the top...although the newer generation is just so good. It will be tough, but anything is possible.
Yes i meant that balance is nice. Usually maps tend to have one bad mu or the map favors one race over another. Like mercury seemed an okay pvt map had some good games on it like reach vs oov. But it was terrible for pvz.
Okay maps are one that makes fun and interesting games but may not be that balenced. Or ones that are balanced but the games tend to be average.

Can't wait for these games. I actually picked casy over jaedong. Lets see if Casy came up with a great build for this map. Against a player like Jaedong, he'll need a perfect one.
On a map like this I think switching to a quick 2 fact vult after stopping muta harass would work really well to deny lurk movement and early defiler rushes with mass upded lings. Then later with saved up gas, start 2 port vessel/dropships. Very early upgrades to counter the very likely early ling upgrades are also very important. T has to stay at least even with zerg in grades and wants the fastest possible 1/1 timing. This way T can get out and deny the zerg gas while they are strong against lurk and before defiler kicks in.
Edit: God I really hope they are playing the map I'm thinking. WIth the gasless nats and hard to obtain gas expansions.

actually casy wasnt 3-0, Hes 4-0 one was some special event i think now hes 5-0. Casy is awesome Hes like the only one still doing 1 base builds. Same vs jy and now jaedong.

Well from what I saw there is a High and Low setting for the stream, the stream is currently on High (which I assume is High Quality), which means the broadcaster can switch to Low I assume.

Fuck, I'm feeling some mixed emotions. Jaedong lost, and this group reaffirms my hatred for the way that group stages work. But, on the other hand, the sheer ludicrousness of backho making it out of that group is just awesome.

Personally I'm glad Jaedong got knocked out. Before Flash raised his game and knocked Jaedong out of the OSL/GSI, it looked like Jaedong would be winning for a long, long time. This just makes him mortal to me. But I do kind of feel for him to losing to Backho of all people.

the savior era showed another level in the zerg game, and the end of the savior era marked the coming of all counter-savior strats (super fast tech 1 fact 1 port move out asap Terran play) and bisu build of course

I got my hopes up after seeing that genius play by Casy vs JD, now I'm just so miserably disappointed. If either JD or Casy had advanced it would have been okay, but seriously? I was never really a fan of GGplay but Backho? WTF!
I want to blame Backho but Casy just seemed plain suicidal in that last game.

Me too i like jaedong but he just doesnt give me the same feeling as when watching savior in his prime. Just like flash too. Flash is good too but somethings just missing. Something different from nada and oov.
Well when i watched JD in the Bo5 vs Flash and then the MSL final vs KAL , i was sure that after early to middle game after geting mutas vs terran or securing 3 gases he can't be stoped .Jaedong could lose a game or two to cheeses or agresive rush builds , but in a Bo5 i easly bet him for favourite.This OSL will be a terrible miss for Jaedong , the only solid zerg looks GGplay in the OSL but he often takes greedy expansions that gets scouted and destroyed and loses horribly
