With good reason, too. Since losing to Sea at the beginning of December, Jaedong is an insane 24-3, including an OSL title as well as a proleague title. Tonight, his opponent is Flash, whom he dismantled in an epic series last night (if you haven't already, it is definitely worth watching). One thing I noticed about Jaedong's play last night, however, is that he seems a little too eager to tech to hive. This is slightly alarming, because he has always been known to abuse lair tech. Will this reliance be his downfall tonight, or will he continue his insane streak? ![[image loading]](http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/images/players/424.jpg) Flash: Lee Young Ho When he first arrived at the scene, Flash was hated by all for his cheese tactics and his inability to play mid-late game. It was admitted that he was good, but was never praised too highly for his accomplishments. Now however, he has accumulated a decent sized fan base for his consistent, solid play. Flash, despite losing to Jaedong last night, looked better than perhaps any terran has ever looked when faced against the zerg master. After all, he did take the first set! Flash has been unlucky (matchupwise) in every starleague he has ever played in; this OSL is no exception. What's more, is that he has been doing so with flair. His storming in PvZ and PvP has been perfect, allowing him to come back from huge deficits (watch the game vs. Hyun if you don't believe me). As far as I can tell, he has no weakness in his matchups, showing great improvement in his PvZ lately. Unfortunately, after celebrating his 68th birthday last weekend, he is suffering from a plethora of age-related diseases, such as (but not limited to) Alzheimer's, arthritis, EDS, and even heart failure. He's never come close to winning a starleague before, and he wishes to do so before he finally keels over and dies. Recently, he has been showing signs of decline, losing in his strongest matchup 4 times in a row. Fortunately, he is not playing a PvZ in this stage of the tournament, so he has time to regroup. That being said, he is playing a formidable opponent in Much tonight, in the matchup that ended his bid for a championship last season (0-3, to add insult to injury). Can he overcome Old Man Toss and fight his way to the finals? Luxury: Park Chan Soo Luxury, after being overshadowed by his twin brother Yellow[ArnC] for months, has finally made a name for himself at the highest level of competition. He 3-0'd his group, with convincing wins against XellOs and Bisu as well as an impressive comeback against July. In the MSL, he had an unlucky draw, running into Jaedong in the Ro16. Not tonight. Though FrOzean took down his twin, Luxury has had a habit of beating those that had preyed on his brother. In the past few months, YarnC has lost to July, Stork, and Much, while Luxury had triumphed against those players. His recent success has gained him many fans, winning in Proleague, the MSL, and the OSL. Furthermore, his only meaningful losses came at the hand of Jaedong, which is nothing to be ashamed of. This is his second OSL in a row, as he knocked out the popular HoyA/Jy in the ODT. He surprised everybody by taking out Yellow[ArnC] and advancing in this OSL, but for some reason the TL.net community has not been behind him in his endeavors. Maybe it's because he calls himself CuteAngeL. Maybe it's because he has cheerful that look like this: + Show Spoiler +I will never know. Personally, I expect him to get raped both tonight and tomorrow night to the current top two zerg players. Stork, the best player ever to grace the face of the earth, unstoppable in all matchups, especially PvP, will have no trouble rolling over BeSt. In fact, Stork will be playing with ONLY his mouse tonight, completely ignoring his keyboard, because of how badly he would win otherwise. sAviOr was first player to give me hope that ZvT was possible along with being a good zerg, all you did was cement that, and the hope was worth more then your current dominating form.

You cannot expect the best or the worst from either Bisu or Much. Those two are totally unpredictable! half of the time, they slump, half of the time, they own...

You sir, underestimate BeSt ALOT which is a huge mistake. He went 6-0 PvP in ODT.. PvP is his best match up.. Stork is good and a monster in PvP but if he gets into the game like you do "I'll just rape BeSt because he is newb" we could see a huge upset.

hopes: just the same. I am rather certain that the semis will be really exciting if these players pull through. Bisu vs. JD Bo5; Ok, maybe Much storms really good nowadays. But I can't find his style pretty or impressive to watch. Stork vs. Luxury Bo5. Arguably, Luxury vs. Best might also be attractive, but certainly not Cuteangel vs. Best / Stork.

No clue.. I'd imagine that they probably have started to practice with eachother already though. At the very least, they won't have to play games 2 and 3 for another week.. I was just making a random observation that from a practice point of view, it might help when two guys from the same team are playing the same matchup on similar maps..

I think the reason for that might well be the matchups. Most disadvantageous maps involve a protoss here and there like Katrina (on the giving end) or Un'Goro Crater (on the receiving end). ZvT is rather balanced on most maps and PvP - no comment, except that "50% of the Protoss win".

I always hate it how often Daum wants updates. I usually think "now I can tune in to the stream", but then the update comes, runs slowly, and I am 5 minutes late already. Ah well.
Anyway, will try to report a little bit for our friends out there who cannot join the stream. But my Daum is usually a bit choppy and jumpy.

Flash expanding on his natural. Jaedong ALMOST loses an overlord, but it escapes with less than 20 HP. Flash adding 2 more raxx to 3 in total. Jaedong rather passive so far.

Flash goes for an early break while JD has one sunken ready and two morphing. Kills 2 sunkens, has 2 bats, so no drones may come in. Five bats clear out newly morphed lings. This is over soon!

Jaedong FE to nat. Flash puts rax up by choke. Jaedong scouts Flash with a drone. Flash scouts in wrong direction and will find Jaedong last. Spawning pool up. Flash finds jaedong. Extractor dropped. Another hatchery goes down in main. Flash finishes his expansion at his nat. Almost succeeds in taking down a scouting overlord. 2 rax up, another coming, academy down. 2nd gas down for Jaedong. Lair tech goes down. Flash pressures with large MM force and a couple firebats.

Jaedong manages to hold the rines at his choke for a moment, but Flash is massing FIREBATS. He is pumping 3 at a time going for the drones at the main now, killing a bunch. At max 2-3 mutas can be morphing., not enough to combat this threat.

Ya well, Flash knows he has two difficult games ahead of him, Fantasy has abysmal TvZ stats. So he should be confident with Katrina as the final set, as he dominated that map with his mech build - but now JD will be prepared for that.

Bisu actually does not rush but just blocks his choke and puts up and expansion on his own, presumably after seeing Much's. Much's expo is done and he transfers some probes. Bisu has Gas up. Much's scouting probe still alive. Much just getting Gas now.

Game Summary:
Bisu starts at 9, orange and Much at 6, blue.
Bisu starts of with early scout, wrong direction and 2 gate. Much starts with 1 gate --> expansion.
When not finding Much directly, Bisu abondons the rush and starts his own expansion.
Somehow Bisu finds the minerals to start his assimilater and cyber core earlier than Much. Much, now with 2 gates, starts some early aggression by pushing into Bisu main with 4 zeals. The zeals gets a few probe kills before being killed by Bisus zeals and some fresh goons.
Meanwhile Much has started a citadel, and templar archives for dts. Bisu attacks with a force of 3-4 zeals and 3 goons and Much is badly prepared. He is saved by his first two dts, but he still lost all his other ground tropps in the process.
To bad for Much, his dts are useless as Bisus first obs emerges as Much's dts tries to enter bisu's base. From here on it is all downhill for Much, espically since Bisus has entered macro mode with 6 gw's while much still is only at 2(?).
Some battles forth and back at the entrence of Much's main can't stop the inevitable victory of Bisu, who slowly pushes in and forces a GG when the main nexus goes down.
Safe play by Bisu, but also a quite bad showing from Much.

Second week's is 2nd set, does not matter who wins the Bo3.

The mineral line at his natural proves to be extremly hard to defend for Frozean, he loses a couple of marines there. Lux has 1 def upgrade on his mutas. Fr0zean has 3 raxx running now and getting 4th. Muta harass still going and deadly.

Luxury a bit overconfident, losing several mutas while assaulting clumps of three towers. Hope he does not suffer the "Yarnc on Demon's" fate where he just waited too long. Anyway, he is ahead in supply by a good bit and able to pump lots of mutas through his 3 gas income. Almost 2 control groups ready again.

Vessel out for frozean, but gets sniped almost instantly. Lux is still only showing one group of mutas while massing his force, so he can overrun frozean as a whole soon. 30 supply advantage. Yet another vessel out finally and 1-1 grades for the rines. Now the mutas move for the killing blow.

There are still maps where the base and terrain layout is really advantageous to the Muta harass. In this case it looked very hard for Frozean to defend his minerals at his natural against it.

Well, this game was the FIRST 50 percent. TOMORROW come the other 50 percent. So Frozean is definitely going to beat Jaedong. You just have to look at the chances to win against Zerg overall. Frozean was really clever losing this one, as the Proleague finals are probably more important.

those attack-move mutas were too cool judging from the amount of marines frozean had .
it's not like 12 muta vs 12 marines... it was 3 groups or more of mutas vs 3 groups or more of marine medics!

Ok, so Stork is getting gas while Best is getting 2nd gate. Core for Stork as well. First zealot from best is heading up and meets a scouting probe which continues unhindered to his main. Stork has a zeal out to defend.

In the end, best abandons the assault and expands on his own. He has an observatory up and still two gates. manages to stop a scouting probe halfway. Stork should pull ahead in economy now, but supply level still equal around 50.

Pretty standard macro style so far. both players with 3 bases, but frozean has top left so he can get another gas. Stork knows this now and is moving out towards it with like 12 goons.

Observer heading up for Best, getting a clean look on Stork's facilities. Stork taking his min only as well and getting observers. He always seems to be slightly ahead with expos. Both gearing up for a long game. Best taking top left while he is also getting ready to claim his natural. Stork moving his goons to 12, but nothing there to find - maybe he spotted the top left expansion.

best gets his units there in time (at 12 oclock) coming from high ground so stork has to retreat. no losses. both players adding mroe gateways, i forgot to count though. best taking his mineral only now, 4 bases-. stork still only has 3 but i think he will macro abit more.

Once Best can get his 3rd Gas to count, it will be raining storms on Stork. Stork macroing hard now, he has to strike soon. best loading up 2 zeal 2 DT into a shuttle and sends it out. Stork moving towards the middle with his goon army.

Both meet in the middle. Best is up by 10 supply, roundabout. Stork retreats, dropship in bests main, Zeals and DTs try to get the cannon but are blocked off expertly by probes. Nice handling by Stork.

Both around 170 supply now, with templars added to the army. This will be huge battles.
HUGE battle at the middle ravine, stork gets off his storms first and beats Best. He has suprisingly many zealots, many more than Best had - maybe he has too many probes? Stork does not push it though, but he takes the base at 6.

Best ggs out. Amazing performance by Stork. He was behind by supply and economy in the beginning, but during the equal supply battles he easily crushed Best.

Stork's army was bigger becouse Best took his 2nd expansion too early, then the 3rd one too.
He should have concetrate building up army first.
Not that Best had smaller army, he also had them poorly placed during the clashes.

Stork also got off two almost perfect storms in that first battle before Best's templars were even in position. Such effects multiply over the duration of the battle as units start to die faster.

Jaedong and Much will come back I think (much with good record on blue storm, and bisu with a notoriously bad one, and troy being kind of up in the air), although I hope Much doesn't. There's also a distinct possibility that flash will cheese win in game two, but otherwise I don't see him beating Jaedong on Fantasy or a second time on Katrina.
edit: Also, I believe Lux is too solid to slip up 2 games to frozean, especially after Samsung loses to Lecaf at the PL Grand Finals. Stork is likewise too solid to slip up two games in a row, even after a PL loss I think.
Actually bisu's propensity to dropship-harass may be especially an advantage on Troy, so maybe he can seal the series @game 3.

Bisu looks good. When I saw him doing 2 gateway I thought he will do some kind of all-in-I-dont-care-bout-the-game thing but he adapted perfect although you must give credit to Much for his "great" build. Stork/Best was epic, I think the decision to go +1 weapons for Stork played a slide role and in general Stork's macro was better then the things Best can offer... Jaedong forgot what is to lose... I think the thought he will be out if he lose another game will shake his confidence and Flash will make the big surprise, but if he really take the Legend Killer out it wont be so surprising havin in mind the way he played in the last weeks . Frozean was a pain to watch... he never showed a will to adapt the mass mutas- he could do at least some gols or dunno...he sux

Why didn't Jaedong morph the other sunkens? I thought he knew that Flash was moving out yet he left them as creep colonies.

These were great games, I'm glad we've been getting great games for a few days instead of not great ones.
All my predictions were wrong (except Luxury duh) but all of my hopes and dreams were right!

i didn't saw the ups of the mutas but anyway frozean played poor, game is very similar to Jaedong vs By.Baby
