He probably felt the map was too advantageous for Zerg playing straight up so he tried to catch Jaedong off guard with a non-standard strat. Too bad, we\'ll never know what would\'ve happened if both went straight up.

wait i don't get how the game played out. did light even expo? in chronological order, correct me if i'm wrong.

1) light starts with proxy fac, that didn't do damage, vs jaedong's 2 hatch hydras.
2)then 2port wraith that didn't do damage vs the 2 hatch (probably 3 by now?), cause of speed hydras and spore colonies.
3) then he lost all his wraith somewhere, probably trying to harass, and in the meantime jaedong has hydra + lurk but is not doing anything with it.
4) then 4 dropships for light, probably 3-4rax? and jaedong has spire up but didn't get mutas, but just some random scourges that didn't see the drop.
5) light's drop fails/doesn't do much damage, and jaedong drops him at the same time and he can't stop it, so gg.
