Kinda meh games. Zelot a bit overhyped - didn't really show much. Sea's build in the last game was pretty dumb. Mass expand off 3 fact tanks into BC. He's kinda hoping Light just sits back and does nothing? I get he had to cut some corners to be a chance against light but damn, that was the cuttiest of cut corners he tried.

He probably didn't expect to play Light at all, nor did he has any practice in TvT. I'm more surprised he didn't try to BBS or something like that. At least this is a decent performance compared to the clown show he put on last season.

He was busy with his team doing events and variety content. He literally did not play for a week. It showed because he seemed way off. His strategy against Light was kind of a "trying somewhat extremely outlandish and pray to the gods above it works". It did not. checked. He barely played any starcraft matches since qualifiers. He did female proleague and university events, played league of legends, and played about 14 games total.

To be fair, all three players today more or less had the same kind of approach vs Light. Can't blame them. Who would want a straight up standard macro game vs the guy who is on like 85% win rate in Major Proleague this month (that's some Flash type of shit if not even scarier). Sea strategy ironically is the most macro oriented one.

Sea strategy ironically is the most macro oriented one. Light is the best standard style player since Flash left, and has really good surprise build orders/mindgames as hidden secret strategies. So yeah it is not unexpected they tried to force him into non standard situations. But Sea literally didn't prepare because he wasnt even expecting he had a chance. which is fine. his focus is on his team.

While I think it would've been nice to have some other players qualify over Sea (Queen), he played in the open qualifier and made it. I think Sea making it is an inherent issue with the current open qualifiers because there are definitely some players who get an easier road than others with so many qualification groups. An idea could be to make groups bigger with 2 people advancing and a double elimination format. Therefore, first place in any group will have to go up against a solid opponent, and a high quality player who might get knocked out early can still make a comeback to advance.

Note that Sea played macro in all 3 games and Zelot was actually the one who cheesed in both of his games so I'm not sure why Sea is criticized for his body language. Personally I find his expressions funny tbh.

However Ddasik - a top amateur player whose level is similar to the likes of Zelot and Scan - was also in that qualifier group, so those 1000-hour-per-month players can only blame themselves for not beating those part time BW players full time variety streamers. And Zelot, who made it to the finals, lost fair and square to Sea as well. Personally I find his expressions funny tbh. Sea only deserves criticism for his lack of practice. But even his lack of practice is understandable. He's legitimately running a business. I expected Horang2 to qualify over Sea because Horang2 practiced like 5 times as much as Sea did. They only have themselves to blame for losing to Sea.
