Sharp fairly effective Vulture play. Then big push. Best tries to hold with storm and shuttle bombing, but fails. Sharp takes down P natural and third, but only mining one base, Best with an outside chance still?

Must be emotions because I cannot imagine how a pro player could not know that he was so ahead at that point and just needed to do "anything" other than what he just did.

That kind of game can happen on any map though. Best was behind after the early game so he got Lurker contained. This time it's not Hydra opening but he still had to build a bunch of Cannons because Action transitioned to Hydra really quick. Well, guess what? Those Cannons ended up doing more harm than good. And combined with the layout of the entrance like a tunnel, it's just impossible to break out of a Lurker contain. I have more issue with game 2 than game 3 really.

You can sim city to make the two entrances become one. The problem is with that sim city your Cannon placement looks like shit in the case of a Hydra bust, and that's how Rain died to Calm. But two-entrance natural is not the issue. Revolver is like that and it's a Protoss favored map in PvZ. Invader is okay for PvZ I think, currently at 49% which is better than the likes of Polypoid. But can anyone explain to me how Best got contained in game 3? His only notable loss in the early game is the 4 zealot poke which died to Mutas. Just that really? After that he had virtually no units to prevent the contain before it started. And it's not like the move out with 4 zealots is a mistake because what else can you do at that state of the game?

if Sharp survives against Mini's early game shenanigans, he is slightly favored in a longer game according to Sharp, he does OK against Mini's style because Mini does have the tendency to attack into Sharp's bait tactics I remember one proleague game where Sharp was at 100 supply and came back against Mini who was at 200 supply

Very sad that Best did not make it out. I dont have high hopes for Mini so I think Protoss is just washed unless Flash comes back and race switches. Ro8 looking good otherwise! I hope Action vs Effort goes late game ZvZ. Top side bracket looking great too, I think both Rush and JyJ TvZ is fun to watch.

On September 13 2023 11:41 Vasoline73 wrote: I expect Action to choke vs effort... it would be great to see him finally win but I am not optimistic! Hoping Mini advances as well. I am of the opinion Action actually has the best and sharpest foundations, mechanics, and standard play out of all the zergs. But as you said, If Action chokes he's done for because then all of the above falls apart under bad decision making. EffOrt on the other hand appears sloppier in comparison albeit not much, he is more diverse and keeps his cool. This set will really come down to Action's form and less so to EffOrt's. Sharp's polished up his optimization to present day top standards and should be capable of putting up a good fight against Mini. But both Mini and Sharp somewhat suffer from a similar issue Action does, albeit to a lesser degree. Sharp's known for misreading and making bad calls. Mini is known for limit testing too much and turning good situation against him going just a bit too far. If limit testing works he looks like a champion, if it fails he loses lol. Whichever of the two stays most level headed will win. JyJ is always level headed. I think that's what ultimately pushed him to ASL15 victory. He is also the most well optimized terran with the best macro amongst the terrans. Soulkey on the other hand is a pure mind gamer with solid set-ups, positioning, map work and awareness, but slightly off on his timings and mechanics comparatively to other zergs. So this will largely come down to Soulkey beating JyJ with smarter play. Neither of these two players will choke or throw. They're both cool as ice. To me this one is as tough to call as the next match-up. Rush vs HerO is almost an impossible one to call. HerO is the most solid all-round zerg but not the best at one aspect. Mechanics almost at Action's level, smart positional play close to Soulkey and the most consistent and solid standard play. Hero doesn't take risks and plays it by the book. Rush is similar in everyway these days but he used to choke so that old habit might show itself although I doubt it. Predictions: Ro8: Action > EffOrt. Mini > Sharp JyJ > Soulkey HerO > Rush Ro4: EffOrt > Mini HerO > JyJ Finals: HerO > Mini I am going to be very wrong about all of the above. This ASL does not care about your thoughts, opinions or predictions. D&D from GOT could take some lessons from this ASL season in diverting expectations.

Sharp has looked surprisingly good! He always struck me as a player who has the early game on lock but utterly loses his game sense when the game demands he take more than 3 bases. That's probably still the case, but he's been winning early so who cares lol. Rush has looked quite capable. Hero's muta control has been savage. Mini is just playing his absurd micro coinflippy awkwardness like usual and it's always a joy to watch him make his opponents want to tear their hair out.

Against the others I would give him a fair shot. Toughest possible obstacles probably JyJ, Action and Mini. I am actually gonna call Action as the champion. His campy ZvT style works extremely well on most of the maps plus he has some crazy aggressive all ins too which he can use to throw off opponent in a series. His ZvZ is also the one that beat Effort in ro24.

End the Terran domination, please. Even if it means Rush missing out on fulfiling his destiny as ASL champion once again. Hard not to empathise with Toss these days. The race is at the brink of beng wiped out by genocide. By process of elimination, that means SK-Mini showdown it is!
