As with the previous season, we consider it a duty to support the mapmaking community, as a result several NWMC maps will be used.

Please vote for your prefered map between Coral, Kick Flip and Butter as the final 2 player map of the season. Information on those maps (and a download link) can be found here. Voting ends next week and the mappack will be released right after that.

INTRODUCTION

Dear Sirs and Madams, Zergs, Protoss, both and neither,

We hope you enjoyed the holidays and as a late Christmas gift, we are proud to give you a 55th season of BWCL! Season 55 will roll out Sunday, January 23rd 2022. As per usual, regular playtime is 19:00 CET.

The season will play out using the same setup as last season for google drive and lineups. We kept the format of 6 divisions but this time limited to 6 clans each, in order for all the playoffs to line up nicely. However, due to team reorganisations, both division Es were merged into a bigger 8 clan division.

As usual, it will be 4 1v1 and 1 2v2, all of them BO3. Each BO3 win is +1 point, and winning the CW provides an additional point.

A FEW WORDS

BWCL: season 55: a farewell to our champions and new blood in div-A

Unfortunately, after showing impressive results over the past seasons, our reigning champions Soul) decided to drop out of the league for next season, due to conflicting schedule with other events. We would like to congratulate them again on their past performances and on winning the title last season. As an admin, I would also like to congratulate them for an impeccable organisation throughout the years. A great example for others to follow.
With that withdrawal, division A will feature only 5 clans this season, 2 of which made it up from div-B in the American powerhouse [NAS] and the Czech squad CWT. Following a vote of the squad leaders in division A, this season playoffs for the title will involve the top 4 team in div-A: #1 vs #4 and #2 vs #3.
Down in the lower divisions, a few clans also dropped out and as a result both division E were merged back into one. For all divisions except A, the top 2 will play the bottom 2 of the division above them for a chance at promotion at the end of the season.
Finally, following the success of the Little League last season, we are continuing it for players below 1650 MMR. If that is you and you would like to participate, let us know!

GOOGLE DRIVE AND LINEUPS

The overall system is the same as the previous 2 seasons. Here is a quick summary:

Clans now get access to “Management Sheets”, in which leaders can add / change players on their own. They’re also able to have a look at a personalized “Schedule”, where they’ll see who their opponents are. There, line-ups and scores have to be reported. The reporting is possible after a clan war ended. Every leader should have been given access already, but if you run into issue please PM an admin immediately.

FAQ

Line-Ups & Reporting

As mentioned, with the new Clan Management from season 53, things changed in the way clan war scores are reported. In the past you could submit your line-up before a clan war was played, now you can’t. The second you enter your line-up, your opponent can see it on the general Google Drive overview. That’s not a bug, that’s a feature.

Downside:
Some clans insist on submissions due to “strategic” reasons. If you want some sense of fairness in the procedure, follow the schematic explained to you in the leader tutorial. That is:

The clan currently placing better in the season has to nominate their first player.
The clan lower placed in the season has to nominate their first AND second player.
The clan higher placed then nominates second and third player and so on and so forth

For the start of the season, the clan “higher placed” means whoever is listed higher in the overall sheet.

Upside:
Whenever you have to switch players (e.g. due to lag issues), you can do that on your own. You don’t need an admin for that, at all.

Important:
In case of postponements, we still need to rely on you to report the games as soon as they are finished. If you miss to report games, we will add penalty points. If you can’t report due to bugs, tell us as soon as possible.

New Admins

In an effort to avoid concentrating too much power in the hand of one person, and also to share the workload, the admin team is always on the lookout for motivated staff.

If you want to help out, a few positions would still be open. Most importantly:

- Anyone who wants to help with (written) coverage of the league
- Casters (experienced or not, S-Class or total newb, we support anyone)
- Translators for the Spanish community
- Optional: Translators for other (Russian, Polish, Portuguese)

Outlook

For the future we are considering the revival of the King of Kings, but it may not happen this season due to the workload involved (sorry). However we were happy about the feedback we got last season about the Little league and we continue it this season! If you are 1650 MMR and below, do reach out to us. Maps and format are the same as the main league.

The NaS that is in Div A now is the B team.Props to them for making this far.The map pool already not looking great.
I really dont get why you guys not using ladder maps that people know and can practise easily.

shame there will be only 5 teams in div-A though.. not quite enough, imo but what whatever (maybe triple round robin - 12 rounds, would be a good idea?)..
