As a person who has a casting experience of over 8 years and as the guy who has probably casted the most together with cats_paw let me add my pov to the discussion:
I know Cats_paw as a clever and interested guy. As a player, he strives for perfection that reminds me of Jaedong in his attitude. (for reference: we all know from interviews that Jaedong got really angry with himself when missing a dropship in ZvT. Cats_paw's attitude towards his games is similar im my opinion, but not as extreme )
As a caster, Cats enjoys strategical analysis, like i do and aims to explain and walk the viewer through different strategic scenarious. Sometimes he's so immersen in it, he misses some action. I don't mean that as a negative, it goes to show much he enjoys that subject.
Second, there is no perfect player. Everybody makes mistakes and has room to improve his play. Cats it's a caster that enjoys analysing plays and trying to find the theoretical best answer. It's true in my opinion that he sometimes get's a bit to deep into theoretical arguments that are practially not executable. Sometimes he is just plain wrong, as we all sometimes are.
But i'm sure he acts this way because of his inquisitive nature and theoretical analytical mind, his aim is not to bash on players. You can misunderstand him that way, i get why but if you know him as a person, he's not an arrogant guy at all, only someone who is willing to stand up for his beliefs with an healthy amount of tenacity.

I think they do good job commentating most of the time. They usually do good analysis, sometimes messing up completely, but that is okay, since is nobody is perfect, and I can`t blame them, they are pretty good. But looking down on a player and/or ridicouling him is not okay, at least with my eyes, like when it happend with fischei: "inyourabase" gated his opponent in pvp, focused on micro, and meanwhile all his 9-10 probes were killed by a single probe forcing him to tap out. The commentator couldn`t stop the laughter. I don`t know man, maybe it`s funny, maybe it`s not. It wasn`t funny for me though, this only showed me that his concentration was so focused on execution in the werge of winning and/or he was so nervous, that he didn`t checked back at his. At least this is how I see it. Not to mention that, we are not professinal players. We, as players of this generation (with a few exceptions) don`t play all the time, most of us study, have a job, have a family, etc. so we are on for a few hours/few days, then don`t play for weeks. We are all amateurs and had to be viewed as such. On a brief sidenote we had a Sziky close to amateur perfection, the epitome of what foreigner can dream beside a job, girlfriend, etc., and after he departed ways from bw, the void he left, is now filled with a few aspiring titans like trutacz and eon. Before going into a game we all have a plan to execute, we can`t do that sometimes cause we a have an opponent too who reacts to and disrupts what we want to do and what we are doing, so we have to deviate, we can make mistakes too. All these sometimes can be misleading to commentators, in certain situations they might think that players are awful, they doing random stuff, etc., but in the meanwhile it`s the complete opposite of this. Again an expample: + Show Spoiler +I played lancer on desti my plan was to siege expand, then 4fac, 3base, then start a strong push towards his 3rd and 4th destroying them, while/or after this reducing his army to soup, bearing in mind that the latter half was my main goal of the game. I scouted my base for proxy, then around my base, then his base, I saw 1 gate, 2 pylons, core spinning, then checked around his base, meanwhile building a second factory, as 2fac>1gate. A zealot popped from his gate, the scv didn`t seen it, cause it went past the probe line. I lifted my rax to put rines on the ramp to meet dragoons, yet the first zea entered, bad luck. He seen my 2 facts, reacted to it accordingly (he built +1gate and robo), as I knew my plan of action was busted, I thought, nothing left just to expand with mines and siege and proceed from there, what I did, but he took his 3rd, and soon his 4th, as he knew no push would come. I had to play catch up, no harasses cause of at that point is worthless to risk vults for 5 probes, when someone has 50-60 and going mass gates. Then things went his way and he beaten me with good macro (didn`t thought that he has so many units, though seen his gate count, and he wasn`t teching :s). For spectators all this seemed to be a mess, yet everything has been done with a reason, while deviating from the planned strategy multiple times, the ultimate late game plan remained the same, I just couldn`t execute it properly, how it should have been done. Now commentators can`t think with the players` head, and it isn`t a problem, I just want you guys to make a good habit: question yourselves in thoughts, that why is this player doing this or that, what is the reason he is doing things this or that way, maybe they have a goal with it afterall. I hope that you understood the concepts what I wanted to point out and it was all clear. :p This meant to be a positive, building critique (not sure what is the good notion to use here). Cheers!
