No matter how much you hate him, you can't deny that was very well done. i can only imagine how long he spent planning and training for the execution of that strategy.

It was well done and all, but greatly aided by the fact that Midas once again showed just how inflexible he is. Going m&m only against mass muta -> fast guardians isn't the brightest thing to do.

IMO savior went guardians because he saw how extremely late midas' tech was.

The guy spends like 16 hours a day training for this matchup which might be (as some have said above) a pivotal point in his career and all you can do is laugh at him ? Maybe one day you'll find yourself in such a position and all can I can wish for is that nobody will be laughing at you when you're down.
Please grow up.

Actually I wonder whether vessels (instead of wraiths) would have done that much better. Savior had devourers and scourges. Had Midas irradiated the devs first, the guardians would have pwned anyway. Had he irradiated the guards, he would have made more of them while making sure to keep separating the one being irradiated.

He would have needed vessels far earlier than that. Those startports seemed really late actually.

Its funny to see him cry because he is always so smiley and making dumb signs to the camera when he wins. Then when he loses he has the funniest look on his face.
There is nothing impossible to him who will try

i hate midas because he made what will now be regarded as one of the stupidest decisions in OSL history, picking the toughest opponent in the ro16.

midas now has to go through a tough ass dual tournament with SO much more pressure on him now, especially with SKT1's one starleague rule. he's mentally fucked and if he doesn't make it through dual next time, he's just fucked general.

as i said before this is a pivotal point in his career, where he can gain enough confidence to be pushed over the top of that OSL winner hill, or he can violently be shoved back down to mediocrity, as this is just another example of how he can't win when it matters because of his inflexible builds and style.

you don't beat a the best player in the world during group stage, disrespect him by picking him first in the ro16, and then expect to win while you have a history of losing clutch matches.

His signs are a part of his charisma, especially with his girl fans.

They love that shit, it adds to his character. I prefer little things like that from pro gamers instead of the same boring face all the time. I was ecstatic when BoxeR threw his arm in the air after his win vs joyo on paradoxxx, and years later against PuSaN after the 3-2 come back. Why not let Midas do his own thing?

I know what you mean about the funny signs and all, but that's really because he's sweet. The guy's just emotional, and he tries so hard to control it but only half succeeds. He should either go back to his CJ roots and not show any emotion at all, or (and I think this is better) just let his feelings show on his face. I can't imagine what it must be like to keep holding back again and again and again.

I thought Midas still had a good chance if he countered. All the bases were fairly undefended, and marines & medics are much more mobile than guardians. Maybe he could have ran around making the slow guardians chase him. An elimination race might be in his favor also since only those devourers could do any damage to lifted buildings. This is all easy to say when I'm watching as an obs.

When Midas charged those guardians with his marines all stuck on the ramp, it was painful though. He might have had a chance if he defended that, seeing as how Savior was going low econ.

Good game anyways.

Yeah, I meant much earlier ports, get vessels fairly early, stop or at least hinder the muta harass with irridiate and be prepared for the guardians with a few vessels.

There's no guarantee it would've worked, because of how the map looks, Midas couldn't really have retreated his m&m and waited for the irridiated guardians to die because the cracklings would've run his expo over, but it definitely had more chances of succeeding than his way too late 2 port wraith.

(Savior building two devourers was extremely nice though, not trying to take anything away from him.)
On a purely personal note, I'd like to show Yellow the beauty of infinitely repeating Starcraft 2 bunkers. -Boxer

So Mr Dumb FUCK Alexander thinks it's dumb to smile when you win an important televised game? You sir has no fucking sense how happy it would be to win a game versus savior. Words can't describe the feeling, and dumb asses like Mr. Alexander wouldn't know how it feels either.

He trained this map for weeks, you really think he only had one build order ready ?

If he used the other build during grop stage it's because he thought he could win with it. I'm sure he has at least 3 more timing builds on this map.

no one's actually focusing on what truly lost midas the game

he fucked up his MMF rush at the start

if you listened carefully during the attack, he accidentally stimmed twice. Consequently, he lost way to many marines far to quickly (after a double stim, it only takes 1 sunken shot to kill a marine). At that point, savior had a huge HUGE HUGE lead. Savior abused it with his tech pattern:

Midas was FORCED to make tons of MM to hold off the mutalisks. In order to prevent Midas from teching too quickly, Savior simply continued to make mutalisks while taking a 3rd gas and hiving. The failed attack early on in addition to the unusually aggressive mutalisk attack castrated Midas's offensive capabilities. Sure, wraith+MnM isn't exactly the best counter to guardians, but if you look at Midas's play, his science facility finished about 20 seconds before the guardians did.

After that first attack, there was nothing midas could do.

i'm so sorry midas, i'm so so so sorry :[

What's wrong with him picking Savior? He knows he can beat him and that his style is pretty damn efficient against him. It's both a decent pick and a hard enough one to be fully motivated.

Also where the hell do you see any form of disrespect in that?

Midas is only human. There are many times in life when we deliberately choose the hardest path. It may be stupid, but there was something more at stake than a confirmed place in the OSL.
